The other dissappointing thing about scourge of war is that I originally got the impression it was possible to do 1:1 ratio. It turns out it would need modding and even after that various scales and tactics would not match up.
I know, I know. 70k men and so forth.... the real reason of course is they are small indy devs with their own engine and limited resources.

The more you zoom in to look at the fantastic troop detail the more horrible the detail looks on the terrain map.

I know total war only has about 8k men or more on the screen compared to the 70k in scorge of war. But scourge of war does not really show 70k men on the field (see above). In fact it may even be less than 8k due to the fact that SOW:W tends to hide terrain and units in a FOG of war to save processing power. So reality is it is hard to get that epic feel when it does not look like a battlefield and you cannot see the number of men on the screen that actually took part or even at lower ratios on the screen. That is the main reason I would play a game like this.... or why not just play counter games.

75,000 romans in the rome2 engine.

P.S. I guess I just answered my own question, I am a bit of a dreamer. This runs horribly and no surprise the terrain looks a little more like SOW terrain with 75k. Must get quantum computer....
