we keeped the mod more similar possible to the original game exactly for permit the various mods to use it if they want, but also only the new armies requested some changes in the logistics files.
Could you list the names of the newly added formations? I'll test using them internally (not on the toolbar 'formations select' yet), and see if that at least clears up the crashes Dark Rob reported.

So I played the first French division scenario "Blood along the Souffel" The biggest question I have is why wont the Austrian line battalions shoot back? The Austrian cannons fired. When they split off skirmisher units, they fired as well. But not the line battalions. Ive never seen anything like this in 4 years of playing the game. I was using the Grog toolbar, but I was playing as the French, not the Austrians, so I dont see how the toolbar could affect them.

Its really hard to describe what I was seeing, but luckily I dont have to because I record all my gameplay.
scroll to 51 minutes in to hear me start talking about it.

Difficult to say; they could not shoot because the ground create an hidden zone for the french, the strnage if why they didn't advance. I can only suspect the AI taken the "hold to the last", which is rare, especially for all the brigades. I'll force it another stance by script for the next correction of script.

Thanks

Hi DarkRob,

Could you try the same scenario without mods activated? Just to try to isolate the problem.

I just made tests by myself; with no mods I had no issues, when I activate grog toolbar I had your same problem, so probably is something related with it.

Yep, I concur. Somehow its the Grog toolbar making the enemy units not shoot. Such a shame because looking over the scenarios they all look really fun and I can see a lot of effort went into making this mod. I was really looking forward to playing this, but I just cant stomach the stock toolbar. Its the Grog toolbar for me or nothing.

Yeah, 'Hold to the Last' ('Stay' command) can be too dominate and freeze units for the entirety of a game. Except for extreme defensive positioning it should be avoided as a scripted order, and then eventually be given different orders. I was going to check the battlescript for this when I saw the offensive freeze in Dark Rob's presentation, but by your statement here I see the AI ordered that 'Stay' command. This is indeed rare but I've see it too. You're right to force another stance with orders, that should fix it.

I also can confirm after testing that the Grog Toolbar caused the 'not firing when engaged' issue. I'll look for a fix.

Im also wondering if I was actually supposed to move that far forward and defend the river line like that.
Mitra is the enemy supposed to be able to cross the river for free and the real area of the fighting is supposed to be back by the town and the hill lined with artillery? I have seen situations like that before where I intercepted enemy forces to early and it kind of screwed up their attack, but never on such a big scale.

In the scenario description it made a point of saying "use the ground to your advantage". To me the river was the best place for a delaying action because the river itself severely slows down movement for enemy units trying to cross it, the French side of the river was lined with trees and the salients formed by the curve of the river gave me excellent interior lines. Then of course, theres skirmishers. Anyone whos watched my videos knows how strong skirmishers are in this game. Even with the slight nerf in the last patch they are still really really strong, and Ive always really abused that power.

Maybe its possible that what I did was so outside the realm of what it was thought a player would do, that once the enemy encountered the French skirmishers it triggered the hold to the last stance?

PS Reb, if you can find a fix for the not firing when engaged issue with the grog toolbar you would be my personal hero.
