Mutli-Player

Will there be any anonymity in MP set up area? I think it would be really, really, really cool to not know who you are playing against. I also think it would be really cool to have the player ID'd as a commander in the field but not sure if that is possible. Wouldn't it be great to get courier message that said, "I have JC Edwards on my left, what are your orders sir?"

Good call Gfran, that's a great idea! That would be cool!!

Now if the courier informed me that Sarge was on my left, I'd know there was no real threat...................................on my left.

Doesnt sound like a bad idea. I would expect one downfall of it to be bordom.

Say your in command of a division or so, and real player control all your brigades, you'd dispatch orders, and sit there; either succeed or fail:D

Lately, in TC2M, I've been just giving orders to my subordinates, and judging where to send them, when to stop them, and when to send in reinforcements. I've been too long with the TC button. Now, I must say that the results are never satisfying, especially with the 1st Pope (the only one I've played this way). However, it is very realistic, and if you do everything just perfectly, your commanders can tear apart the enemy!

In MP, you have a player name that is user selected, for example "Sarge" and you also have the commander name for the unit that you are commanding, for example "George E Pickett, commanding Pickett's Division, I Corps, ANV". The courier system will use the commander name to route messages so you must know that name. How you address each other if using Ventrilo is up to your discretion, or lack thereof. ;)

Will we be able to send tiped messages by courier to other players?

Yes, and currently, you can press a key which will bring up a small chat interface that only friendly players can see.

The courier system is going to be awesome though (for SP and MP).. Norb is working hard on it now to make sure it works right, but I just got a preview of how its going to work, and.. very cool! :)

Typed courier messages...how fascinating! Only one problem - the typewriter was not patented until 1868! Wait....what if the messages appeared in "script"? To quote my grandson, "That would be way cool!"

How about it? :silly:

I think the same format of a courier message in Tc2m would suffice.
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure.
