A HUGE Difference in Modding SOWGB vs. TC2M

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Thanks, but I'm going shopping for Excel, and cry about that and other stuff I chose not to have loaded when having my custom pc ordered, for I thought that I would never use certain programs, which I never used in my 2 prior computers. Oh Well!
The '97 version can be found on ebay for cheap (got mine for around $20), and it works as well as the $300 newer versions.
Would it work with a VISTA os?

Your right ADukes, OpenOffice is about the best you can get.

I thought that one of the improvements in this game was the stanardizing of Mod installations. In the old game there were excellent mods, but you could screw up the game by placing the codes in the wrong folders. I was hoping that Norb,s team was ensuring a simplified system so users can enjoy your graet mods.

Is that the reason for certain files not being allowed to be edited? Norb could you expand on this?
All files can be edited and used in the game without ever messing up the game. You can go to the mod screen and enable/disable any mod.

Can I just put the 1 or 2 lines I change in defines.ini into my mod version of the file? In other words does it behave like the csv files, just put the modded material in the file and get rid of the rest?
I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.

Good question! Yes, it should behave the exact same way. Just checked the code and that's how it was written.

How about a simple installer program for MODS. The files that can be modified are automaticaly sent to thier proper file folders.

That's up to the mod developer. There is a reg key for where the game is installed that they could use. It's the only reg key created for the game.

I don't think it is working as intended. When I make changes to the full file, I see those reflected in the game. When I put the two lines I modified into a defines.ini, it acts like only the default version is present.

I know that when I modify a piece of gscreens.csv, I have to include all the lines for the screen I am modding, not just the 1 or 2 lines that I actually change. Otherwise the changes won't show up. Could something similar be happening here? I am adjusting the casualty morale routine. Perhaps I need to put all the CM variables in the new file. I haven't tried that yet.
