Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Yes, Davinci's new trails really add an element of surprise. The AI readily uses multiple lines of march. Last night, the rebels were attacking the Feds with 2 different corps, in two different places on the map. A third Union column used still another path and crushed one of the Confederate divisions by taking it in the rear, only to be flanked in turn by the rebel reserve force. Hmmm, sounds like a porn movie in the making... It was one of the most entertaining battles I've played to date.

The farm names, by the way, are authentic. I took them from a period map that I found on the Library of Congress website. It's a great resource for Civil War era maps.

This is an idea that I having been working on in my head, I just don’t know about all of the hidden conflicts that may result from this!

I would like to create a new window that lies between the existing toolbar windows at the bottom of the screen, and have it show the name , and a picture of the land that the men are standing on!

So if the men are at a particular farm, a small window will appear with a picture of that particular farm , and the name of that farm.

Also, if the men are walking on a particular road, or path – the name of that road or path will also be displayed!

Some is this is pretty simple, while some of it appears quite complicated due to my lack of knowledge pertaining to certain csv files.

But if I can break it down into different pieces, well then hard becomes simple, simple becomes do-able, and do-able becomes a mod.

A good question. Part of it will, I think. If you and everyone else copies the files in the mod's map folder into your \Base\Maps folder, (be sure to save a copy of the originals), you will have access to the courier locations, new mini-map and I think the new trails, (not sure about this). However, you will not see the new trails delineated with the brown rocks. The AI will know about them, but you will only have the mini-map as a guide. You can also use the Warren map mini-maps that I created in another mod the same way. They can also be used with the historic scenarios.

I have named all of the main roads on the Alpine Map – I’m in the testing phase of the Mod to judge the impact on the fps.

This map is already very demanding on computers, so messing around with the roads which has a major impact on performance is not very smart.

As you know there are a lot of roads on this map with similar names, these are the ones that I have named listed below.

John Creek Road, East Creek Road, Craig Creek Road, Meadow Creek Road, Webb’s Mill Trail, Highline Trail, Ap’s Knob Trail, Knob Trail, Mill Trail, Wagner Mill Trail, Sinking Creek Trail, Post Road, Thoroughfare Gap, Eakin Spring Road, Lugar Road, and since I ran out of entries one is just Road.

I am having a very good time with this mod - I play small Corps level Battles most of the time. A great enhancement.
