Some 10mm figures

Nice work gunfreak, i go 6 and 28mm myself thats some great details on the figs and good basing. My basing always suck, i can never get the grass on properly. I but some PVA glus on, sprinkle some flock, wait for it to dry, but 80% falls off even when dry. any tips?

I play Black Powder at the moment which is a fun set easy to pick up and play without too many hard core rules. the rule set covers all black powder era so i use ot for naploeonics also. I do play Fire and Fury aswell for ACW.

For your average 4 foot deep table I'd suggest a regimental level game for starters. Either that or a portion of a larger battle on a brigade scale. Black Powder might be worth looking into, I've tried Hail Caesar and it was good fun, but Priestley is a big table man too. Those old Grognards have the benefit of having had decades to build up their collections and sometimes it is reflected in the game design.
Guns at Gettysburg should work fine for a 4 foot deep table, if I'm correct.

I have guns of gettysburg, and thats the rules I'm going to use for my small scale battles, with 10mm figures I can probebly get two divisjons pr. side on my table, mabye even a full corps.

About the flock, I just aply white glue to the base, then dunk it in a box of grass, I then take my finger and push the grass into the glue, so more of it sticks. then blow so the loose ones go away.

I don't push the grass into the glue myself. I just dunk the PVA'd base into the grass and then give the base a couple of snaps from my finger to shake off any excess.

Using tufts seems to be all the rage these days. Looking at the pages of wargames illustrated, it seems static grass is used less than tufts now. I'm considering getting some myself from here: http://www.sceneryexpress.com/departments.asp?dept=1040

Just using tuffs works fine for some periods, but with the lush american countryside, I have to use alot of flock, for me fighting over serine pastures and fields is one of the uniqe things about the ACW/AWI
