Hello. I just purchased Chancellorsville, this evening, and installed it directly into my Scourge of War Gettysburg folder, at which time it apparently replaced a lot of files in my Scourge of War Gettysburg files that is should not have! Now, when I click on the SOWGB.exe icon, I, too, get the same run time error that Scarletto does! In addition, when I click on the SOWCV.exe icon, that is also present, I get "invalid dynalink in the .DLL specified in the title bar. (3)"! I've not a clue what that means. All previous installs, that I installed directly into my SOWGB folder worked perfectly. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
When you did that you installed stand alone CV over stand alone GB. CV installs two ways, if it cannot find GB, it will install stand alone. It will only find GB if you have installed the latest patch on GB. This creates the reg keys that CV uses to find out that GB is installed. If you have an older version of GB, then CV will never find it and will only install as a stand alone.
We've been trying to stress the importance of patching up installs since we went with Matrix. They do things a little differently and we had to get the games converted to accept their new map packs. I realize that we cannot reach everyone, but we cannot stress enough the importance of this. We figured since it removed the activation process, that everyone would be anxious to patch. But it has not been the case as almost all the support incidences are based on not patching.
To start over you will have to get the latest GB install from Matrix and install that. Afterwards you can install CV as a map pack.

Just as a brief caviat re the the earlier comment about installing C'ville over any version other than 1.5.
I recently carelessly installed C'ville over a SOW G'burg 1.4 version. It installed in the G'burg 1.4 folder as an add-on successfully except in 1 graphical respect----the Wilderness was treeless. However a subsequent installation of 1.5 patch over the top remedied that problem.
So it appears that C'ville can install as an add-on in a SOW G'burg 1.4 version----but you will probably need to then install 1.5 on top to correct the graphical flaw.
Best advice however clearly install 1.5 patch first.

Thank you pcelt. Some of the later versions of the game create the required reg key for the installation. But it's still broken in other aspects. Most people have no issues, but there are some that are getting weird installation issues and we're just trying to give them a definitive approach.

So, does that mean that I'm going to have to buy a new version of Gettysburg from Matrix?

Absolutely not. Your code will allow you to register at the Matrix site and download the latest versions of everything. We would not make you repurchase what you have already paid for.
