Runtime error

Post by scarletto »

Bought the game through Matrix Games, downloaded it and started it, the screen comes up saying Play, so press play and all that happens is a grey box comes up with

Program C:\matrix games\Scourge of war - Gettysburg\SOWGB.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more information

I bought this game only last week, i have no runtime issues before, my rig is okay with specs and updated, i have malwarebytes and bitdefender, did full checks no viruses or malwares.

I have just downloaded and played games off steam, no problem, this is the only game that will not even let me play.

I followed previous advice and did a new download with virus and malwarebytes off, still no joy, though why i should run my rig with those off i have no idea. Any idea of why this is happening.

Thank you

It's possible the game is getting hung on the intro music. Go to your Scourge of War - Gettysburg\Base\Music folder and rename the mp3 files to .1 or whatever you want so they won't play when the game is loaded.

I would try doing a full reinstallation from your download installer file. If that does not fix it then the download file itself may be bad.

I have never seen errors as such, maybe Matrix install issue clues. Might want to post this log on the Matrix web site in the SOW section if the reinstall doesn't work.

Regarding re-installation, I'm thinking an uninstall should happen first, but I'm just assuming. Usually re-installs without wiping the registry clean result in the dreaded 'Demo Mode'.

Hello. I just purchased Chancellorsville, this evening, and installed it directly into my Scourge of War Gettysburg folder, at which time it apparently replaced a lot of files in my Scourge of War Gettysburg files that is should not have! Now, when I click on the SOWGB.exe icon, I, too, get the same run time error that Scarletto does! In addition, when I click on the SOWCV.exe icon, that is also present, I get "invalid dynalink in the .DLL specified in the title bar. (3)"! I've not a clue what that means. All previous installs, that I installed directly into my SOWGB folder worked perfectly. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

To make matters worse, I recently had to replace my computer, because my mother board died. I had Scourge of War backed up on an external hard drive....everything I'd downloaded and added on since I first bought the game....except, I just discovered, for my activation code for SOWGB!...of which I had apparently only saved a copy into "my docs", and my desktop (I saw the word document with the title SOWGB activation every day that I was on my computer desktop, before it failed!) So, now, if I can't fix what the C-ville install did to my SOWGB game, will I have to purchase another activation code for SOWGB?? Guess that is my fault. However, I purchased SOWGB, and installed it into my Gettysburg game, the same way I have done the previous add-ons, and the website for SOWCV states that it can be played as a stand alone, OR as an add-on to SOWGB. So, I interpreted that as meaning that I was supposed to install the game INTO the SOWGB folder, if I wanted it to play as an SOWGB add-on. Was it supposed to replace necessary files in the SOWGB game? (for example, the install replaced the SOWGB intro music with the SOWCV music! Silly example, I know, but it is evidence that it did indeed replace SOWGB files. AND, maybe I LIKED the SOWGB intro music!!!) Am I at fault for screwing up my game, or was it the fault of the install, for which I paid? Perhaps this isn't where I should ask this question. If so, I guess I'll find out. Did I ask a question? LOL
