Presumably historic maps would be under the control of Norb. I suspect he may allow Garnier to produce maps of some minor engagements but given the future value of add-ons to NSD I'm guessing most historic battlefield maps would be a no-no.

That's not to say that I won't welcome more random maps as good as these and if Garnier can keep honing his skills on map generation code then it can only be a good thing in terms of saving time and of course cost to NSD.
I don't think Garnier has any interest in doing historical maps, at least for now. I'd like to see him perfect his random map generator and have it available in game to create new maps for each battle, kind of like the old Combat Mission map generator.

For those unlucky few that never played CMBB or CMAK, you could choose tree coverage (heavy, moderate, light), farm or village or city, and hilliness (flat, rolling hills, moderate, or steep). It was very cool.
