Tried setting walk speed of wagons to 0.001 in unitglobal, works better, takes foreeever for wagons to get somewhere but thats o.k. with me, dont see any enemy wagons at the front lines near as much.

Still not a fix though. :pinch:

Tried setting walk speed of wagons to 0.001 in unitglobal, works better, takes forever for wagons to get somewhere but that’s o.k. with me, don’t see any enemy wagons at the front lines near as much.

Still not a fix though. :pinch:

I was strongly under the impression that that wouldn’t work, due to the fact that the game would over-ride those settings pertaining to the Supply-Wagon, and set its speed the same as the DivCmder.

I thought that the only file that they couldn’t over-ride was the mapname.csv file.

Unless this was later fixed in the last patch and I haven’t notice it, due to the fact that I have placed an extremely slow movement speed for all units in the mapname.csv file.

But, if this works that’s great!

Isn't the wagon problem linked to the cavalier behaviour of player & AI generals mentioned elsewhere? If the risks of being near enemy troops increased, and they behaved more cautiously, then the wagons wouldn't get so far forward. Not saying it's the whole solution, but could it be part of it?

i'll be danged if i know anything about all that patch stuff, was just changing values. i know changing wagon march speed to 0 doesnt work, but at 0.001 i havent seen one enemy wagon at all in the last 4 battles i had, and it takes 30-45 minutes for your wagons to get to front lines now.

It's not a fix, but seems to work ok.

Hmmm, OK now I think that I understand why this is working for you and not for myself, I just checked and I have the Officers, Infantry, Cavalry – set at 0.1 \ 0.1 , and the Artillery, and Supply set at 0.001 \ 0.001 . The Courier is set at 8 \ 24 considering that I use him to move all of the men.

So, it appears that I have set everyone to the lowest possible speed, so they are all moving at roughly the same speed.

I haven’t checked this in a while but, there was a bug in the game that had everyone moving at the same speed, whether on the road, or moving off the road.

Or, the bug was caused by me, by changing all of the unit speeds, while altering the movement speeds of the mapname.csv file.

Yes, probably caused by me .

But, still if this works for you then great find!

After 12 battles on a variety maps have only seen one enemy wagon very far away and sighted thru some trees.

The way i see the wagon problem is that the wagons want to stay within a certain radius of the commander, but wagons only use roads to do this, if the road net leads thur the enemy lines, thats the way a wagon will take. i've seen wagons go around my flank and try to get thur my lines to get to there commander, from behind my lines, then they bunch-up in my lines cause they must retreat when they get to close to my units.

i dont think its the commanders doing, its the wagons path finding.

just my take on this

Haven’t changed any of mapname.csv movement rates. Guess in my world leaders would not suffer any movement hits in any terrain, arty and cav would pay twice as much as inf moving thru woods, walls, fences. But really not that big of deal all-in-all.

The road movement has always seem ok, as roads let units move with no fatigue, and units moving cross-country are slowed by the number of streams and fences they have to cross, plus the fatigue thing.

Anyways i really like the way you can work around these problems and find somthing that works for your game. :woohoo:

This was never resolved was it....I can't control half the wagons? I've found the advantage of resupplying, but it's like you have to schedule, make the time to do this? This is in single play mode. Is is different with multi player?
