This was never resolved was it....I can't control half the wagons? I've found the advantage of resupplying, but it's like you have to schedule, make the time to do this? This is in single play mode.
I'm not sure I completely understand your situation, why can't you control the supply-wagons?

Example - I have a custom OOB where I command all of the troops that are on the battlefield, so once the battle starts I place the four-wagons in the rear on the battle-line.

But, this requires that I Take-Command of them so that they do not follow the divisional-commander.

So, are the wagons that you are trying to command under your chain-of-command, or do they belong to a part of the army that you do not have control over?

Hi, I usually leave supply wagons under AI command- do they automatically resupply?- I have never hit the resupply button more than once in hundred battles, am I missing anything? thanks for reply

To be honest with you Davinci, I'm still figuring this game out....it never ends, but this is good. I need to get into the details to explain further. But they just wander off, sorta like my ex-wifes....I guess I assume that if i control the Divison, this includes the wagons....I tell them to halt, they listen, and then they are off again. straight towards the eneemy lines, which is not right no matter who's in control.

To rclark 14, you better bet it's important to keep them resupplied.....

I love this game.....

The ammo wagons do not automatically resupply your troops. The wagon will follow the commander of the unit it is part of, normally a division. It is up to you as unit commander to decide if and when to get your troops to the ammo wagon. If you are playing SP as a brigade CO, you will not be able to command the ammo wagon as that is a peer unit in your division. If you are a division CO or higher, you will be able to TC ammo wagons.

OK…Now I understand!

Basically, if the Divisional Commander is located, or has passed the battle-line, and the supply-wagons are not under the Take-Command – they will try to proceed to the last location of the divisional commander. Once their path has been updated they will move back.

So, it is probably better that you place them under the T\C once the fighting begins.
But they just wander off,
sorta like my ex-wifes....
Hah! – That was funny!

True, they will halt, but then they will try to move to within a certain radius from the divisional commander. The only way to stop that is to T\C of them.

Adding to what Jim said – units will re-supply on their own if they run out of ammunition, but they must be completely out in order to automatically re-supply.

ok, thanks- so you can do the battles without having to manually order resupply. It's all about winning and the resupply order messes up a good battle formation.

Once the units completely run out of ammunition they will retreat, I usually anticipate this and move another brigade directly behind them to move forward in their place.

Once the units that are out of ammunition, I also T\C of them to place them into the column formation to re-supply.

The reason behind that is due to the fact that if you just leave them alone, they will remain in line-formation while marching to the supply-wagon.

Once they are near the supply-wagons, I'll un'T\C them so that they will march back to the position of the brigade commander on their own.

It's a lot of micro-managing, but I like to micro-manage the whole battle.
