I tried negative values yesterday, it still seemed to be limited by the LHS of the toolbar.Ill try again later.
Try making the file smaller, and see if you can move it around with negative numbers, then just increase the size of the file until you can cover the screen area from the toolbar upwards.
For such a simple idea, this has turned out to be really cool. Nice work.

Quite amazing what lies beneath the surface of this game!

I wish that I could take credit for this, but it wasn't my idea!
Thanks, for the comments!

Got it to full screen - my mistake had been thinking x source and y source, were the x and y origin.

Here is a Beta of the Binoculars_V2 Mod.
This does require some modding on your part, due to the fact that I'm not sure about the coordinates on the different resolutions of each individual desktop \ game settings.
In the Binoculars_V2 \ Logistics \ gui.csv
This is the line that is on line 41 – there are two entries that must be edited by you – these entries will adjust the screen to cover up everything that is not in the view from the binoculars.
Explanation – I know how to cover-up the screen on my computer by trial and error, but if your resolution is different than mine, I cannot test how to cover up your screen. So this will fall upon you!
Also – different resolutions will require a different size background – again – I have no idea what that would be until you test the results.
The first negative – number should move your screen left
The second negative –number should move your screen towards the top.
GUI_LVL1_Inf_Binoculars,GFX_Binoculars,-128,-260,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Then, we will go from there………

EDIT Post
I forgot to add this while you are testing the Mod!
Click on the small binoculars icon to open the binoculars
Click on the Combat icon to exit \ then Click on the Zoom x 2 to return to normal view.
Pending..... - I'm still trying to figure out a way of exiting the view and returning to the game with a single click, haven't figured that out yet!
Thanks,
davinci

Dont have time to install the mod now - i will this evening though - cant wait!
Heres the image of my resized black backdrop plud binoculars as requested.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y60/co ... Screen.png[/img_size]
Heres the coordinates I used for mine. I messed up my original (flatten image, curse you!) and had to do this quickly before running out the door - so the cancel button x,y is wrong and so I havent included it.
-328 -141 1680 1050 1680 1050
ONe last edit - I took davincis advice and made the y length of my backdrop 5 pixels longer than it was, so 1680 x 1055 - this got rid of a nasty little sliver at the bottom of the screen that was annoying me.

Scratch that - I THOUGHT I had fixed the problem. The binocular menu was showing up, the new binocular screen was showing up, but the screen was off center, even though I had used the new values. Not a big deal. So I started again....
Now I cant get anything to show up at all:(
One question Davinci - not related to my current problem - is there anywhere else we should be changing values? The gfx.csv file has a width and height field set to 1024, im guessing we change that to match our own monitors?
Cannot get anything to work - no idea why. Anyone any idea why a MOD mightnt work? Ive restarted game, reinitialised mod, tried different maps, different generals, everything..
