Here is another question and I think we have talked about it before but it has been a while. Is there any thought of trophies(lack of a better word) for multiplayer? Like play X number of games and you will be promoted to "Y". Or win "x" number of battles and receive "blank".

I think Norb you said before that the regular scenerio's are going to have some sort of advancement, but is there any thought to multiplayer advancement?
Honestly I have a ton of ideas that I want to do in relation to what you ask. But I know what we have to do and the time we have to do it in. Meaning that I'm just going to focus on getting it solid as a rock on the first release. I may add the bells and whistles in a patch or expansion, but I doubt there would be some, if any, in the first release.

Following up on the previous questions (and maybe this has already been answered)...

In multiplayer, when looking at the overhead map, will a division commander see the locations of all his brigades regardless of where they are on the battlefield or will the division commander only see units on the map that are actually in his line of sight and have to rely on his brigade commanders to keep him informed as to the location of his brigades. The later would seem more realistic.
You are correct that it would be more realistic and this is something that we have discussed as a difficulty setting. But there are more implications.

I is very expensive to run line of site code and right now you only have to run it against the opposing army. If we added this, we would also have to run it against our army, which would slow down the game.

But we could do it just by distance, which seems a reasonable compromise and cheap to do. Won't be as realistic though because you would see someone in the middle of the woods, but it may be the solution without slowing down the engine.

So the answer is that this may be added as a difficulty setting and if it is, then the person that starts the MP server will have the option to use that setting or not.

Even if it is only by distance, that is good enough for me!

The distance thing could make sense. Even if you couldn't actually see the troops if they are in woods, behind woods, or behind a hill, the closer they are to a commander the more likely he would have knowledge of their position, if not their formation, especially if they are not the opposing force.

Wow, there are some really clever folks hanging about here that are really thinking about this stuff. And, there are some even more clever folks making a lot of the "Grog" stuff options for greater appeal to the masses.

Keep up the good work, everybody, on both sides of this development.

And, the manoverability of your view should also be diminished, and the hearing of firing if they are not within the distance.
