I think the boys will miss me

Post by Mayonaise »

So... moved on to this scenario. Just beat it with a score of just over 7500. Pretty much moved to the objective, routed 3 small confederate regiments, and then fast forwarded to the end. Major Victory is set at 1,000.

Did I get the confederates overslept the assault variant?

Yep, that play went bust. Happens occasionally when attack orders stray. Least you got a breather after your bout with Get those Guns.

Also, the confederates must have taken a beating in a previous scenario. If you turn off the caryover, it's a completely different animal. But if Anderson and Kershaw took a lot of casualties in GB07 or GB11/GB12, there won't be much left of them in this one.

Ah, that explains why this one is easy. In GB11 my division gets pretty well shot up. It's a bit perverse though, that by decimating my division in one scenario, my life on the 'other side' is made much easier. :)
I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.

Ohhhh, so the carryover function explains why so many of the Union (computer) regiments have numerical strength in the double digits, many having numbers sub-50?

Well yes to an extent. Caldwell's division had many small regiments without carryover. Especially the battle scared Irish Brigade. They were a brigade about the size of a regiment!

I think one of the regiments was down to 75 men by the time Gettysburg rolled around.
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure.

Not Caldwell's division, I'm talking about the entire 3rd Corps and some of the 5th was depleted. Vincent's Brigade at the beginning of the battle was under 200 men, the entire brigade!

Yeah, you must have really kicked some serious butt on GB07 - To The Round Tops. :)
