If you TC your troops and order them to charge, they usually capture one or two of the battery then stand there while being pounded by the rest. Is there a better way to do it?
How do you do it if not under TC?
Battery damage to skirmishers is crazy. Worse than in column...
Bets way of capturing / destroying a battery.

Re: Bets way of capturing / destroying a battery.
When I capture a battery, I first give them a location in the middle of the battery, then march them to the battery at double quick. When they get to within 50-60 yd of the nearest gun I order them to charge. As soon as they capture that first gun, I immediately hit the charge button again. I repeat this until the battery is captured or routed. Note, I usually send two regiments after a battery whenever possible, so that if the first one routes during the process, the other regiment can finish the job. And of course this only works if there is no supporting enemy infantry nearby.
I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.

I do the same thing only after things are well in hand for the battle. I try and put a lame regiment in front about 150 to 200 yards and sit there. The battery concentrates on that regiment and then like Georgia I advance two regiments at quick step until 50 or 60 yards and then charge and keep hitting the charge button.

ive seen charges miss cannon though....and what if you cant devote enough time to controlling the charge? or two charges simulataneously?
How does the AI do it...would you order them to 'attack at all costs' and click on the battery? A capture battery charge button might be nice.
Plus what dictates whether you capture the battery or destroy it? Scenario 2 (attacking as heth) i captured loads of union cannon. Sandbox last night, i charged, but they all dissappeared.

One word - attackmarch
Assign it to a keyboard command or it's available on the toolbar with my B&F mod. Way less micro-managing with this command...
Regarding gun capturing, it depends on whether a battery is attached to your division in the OOB. So, it can be easily edited either way for surrender or capture...custom OOB.

Bugles & Flags Gettysburg - Toolbar, Flags, Scenarios, and More...
Re: Bets way of capturing / destroying a battery.
i have your 'bugles and flags' mod, its excellent. lots of things i dont recognise in the buttons though, only getting to grips with it. Were all these commands always there only you added a button to make implementation easier or have you invented them? Like the reb bugle cry one...
What does attack march do?
as for guin capturing, these were enemy guns. usually when i charge them, i capture them and can use them,. but last night in the sandbox they just diossapeared once defeated.
