Xfire Support

Post by FLGibsonJr »

http://www.xfire.com/forums/182627/topic/2129236/

There is an XFGM at Xfire who is trying to set up full support for Scourge Of War, however he needs some testers before Xfire will release full support for Scourge Of War to its 18.4 million users. This is an excellent and free way for SoW to get wide exposure and additional sales. You can broadcast your games live and thousands of Xfire users will see you playing the game. They will often message you and ask about the game etc. If you have any questions, please ask.

Regards,

Does this need to be supported in the code somehow?

No, it looks like XFGM Rekka has it coded for Xfire already (see link in my first post). He needs Xfire members to test the code, before Xfire will release it in their updates. Any one here can sign up as a member for Xfire and help test it.

PS: I just noticed that Rekka signed up for this Forum today.

Indeed, I was going to ask for some testers. Seems you have beaten me to do it. ;) As mentionned by FLGibsonJr, I need some SoW players to test the code and give me feedback on the code on the Xfire forums. As it seems I am the only one in the XFGM team who have bought this excellent game, I need as many feedback on the code as possible to get it supported. The more I have, the quicker the game could be supported (I don't really know how many feedbacks I need but the more the better ;)).

I think it could be a nice (and free :P) way to bring more people to play SoW. :)

@norb : nothing needs to be done on your side.

Thank you very much for taking the effort to grow the community. There are just so many things that can get the word out, things that I have never heard of, which really shows the values of having a great group of people willing to take their time to help grow the game.

I'll take a stab at it. If it works with dial up, then it should work with everyone else out there...I'm downloading the software now.

Just let me know if you would prefer HS to give you hand instead.

Cheers.

Hi.

I have followed all of your instructions, and it appears to be working. I launched the game, x-fire gave me a pop-up telling me that I am online...so what to do, what to do.

I shall sit here until someone wishes to test it.

Don't be too scared of dial up, I can still kick your butts...(haaaa boy I'm full of myself).
Later!

So Xfire would let viewers look at live single or multiplayer games?
You can get farther with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone.

Hi.

I think someone should create a community before it gets taken.

The purpose of Xfire is for sharing screenshots/videos of the game (and also tracking how many hours you spent playing :D). It can also help to join servers for multiplayer games but this feature is only for big games I think.

What you can test with the code I gave you is taking screenshots (scroll lock + S)/videos (scroll lock + V to start and end) in game and see if the overlay is working properly (which seems to be the case seeing your screen :P). You'll have to try to upload the video for Xfire to process it in a readable format (.mp4). You'll get an error while trying to upload them because the game isn't supported yet but you can find your screens and videos in the Xfire folder ("C:\Program Files\Xfire\screenshots" and "C:\Program Files\Xfire\videos" by default).

If everything works fine, you can post a feedback telling this code works for you on the Xfire forum. ;) Thanks for taking the time to test it. :)

You can also broadcast while playing but I must admit I never tried it so...
