The full text of the War of the Rebellion records is available online here:

I've removed most of the errors from one 4000-word after action report and posted it here.
I like reading these when I'm bored or looking for inspiration, so I might put some more up. Since the documents are visually scanned from the hard copy, there are tons of spelling errors, page numbers and titles mixed in with the text that have to be removed.

Re: War of the Rebellion records
Silly Garnier, you don't remove spelling errors from primary documents
If the error were in the printed text, that's one thing, but all errors in primary documents are to be kept unless the word is illegible or requires explanation.
Spellings that you know are wrong but are faithful to the original writer can be denoted by [sic]

History revisionist!!!
Re: War of the Rebellion records
I look for the obvious scanner errors. It's possible that some original spelling errors will be lost since I'm not doing them all by hand.
Got a problem with any of these replacements?

So you're saying you are cleaning up the mess that was made by a program used to scan the original documents and translate them into a digital format? ...Nevermind.

Re: War of the Rebellion records
So did something run to convert the words in the images to text? No, most of those are fine, although it's odd that it creates ~. I would think that would be a placeholder for an illegible character, but maybe not in this case. In any event, those are fine.

I assume that's what it is doing.I would think that would be a placeholder for an illegible character
But anyway, I found a more convenient place to read them. These are just scanned images of the hard copy, not text.
