Is it possible to make the sky cloudier?
Hey y'all,
Ever since DaVinci and I came up with the Fog Mod, I have been wondering if it is possible to make the sky cloudier. This would be in conjunction with the Fog Mod. It is a little jarring to have this great fog layer on the ground, then look up and see blue sky in the breaks in the clouds. I'd like to think we could get a nice "meet-up" if you will and really gray-up the day, as it were.
Thoughts?

Well it appears that you are in luck, even with the map files being locked, the sky is still moddable.
I did it about six or seven months back, don't remember what I did, but I was able to change those files pertaining to the sky effect!
This would require a bit of map making experience, but I think that I remember you doing some of that on the other forum.

Jack – this is just a quick five minute edit of the two files that you need to work on to change the sky effect.
Both files are located in the LSL file, so there is a downside to this, your changes will affect your map whether you are playing with the fog effect or not!
There might be a work-around, but at the moment I haven’t spent enough time to really know.
Files – to edit from the LSL
1) strato.dds
2) cloudmap.tga

Also – take note that some of these files have to be in a certain order, but working with these two, the order does not really matter.

Damn I just answered my own question...
Forget about it.
Later.

Jack O'Neill - forget about what I said in the above post, you can change the appearance of the sky by the same file that does the fog changes.
It didn't occur to me until I was driving down the interstate, basically where I come up with most of my thoughts!
Remove the semi-colons from the Sky Settings - once you open the file you will see which lines to experiment with!

Outstanding, Brother! Knew you'd figure it out. Question - Would the SKY settings you are talking about be the "Sky Plane" settings? There are semi-colons in them. They are the only SKY references in that file.

Make the file look something like this, I included the fog so that you will know how to align this within file.
[Defaults]
WorldWrap=1
;Fog
FogEnable=1
FogR=101
FogG=101
FogB=106
FogNear=100
FogFar=60000
;Sky
;SkyCubeR=192
;SkyCubeG=192
;SkyCubeB=192
;SkyCubeR=45
;SkyCubeG=45
;SkyCubeB=45
SkyAlpha=255
SkyPlaneR=101
SkyPlaneG=125
SkyPlaneB=146
SkyPlaneHeight=500
; Lens Flare - really just used to turn it off
; all maps should just have it on and then the scenario can turn it off here if
; they don't want it
LensFlareEnable=1

I’m really not seeing why the clouds do not move during the day!
They are in-cased into a sphere-type-design which indicates that they were designed to move in a circle.
I have been playing around with the numbers off-and-on but have not had any luck with them moving, another mystery!
