QA Staff

Post by norb »

We're always on the lookout for dedicated players, people that want to contribute to make the game better. It's mostly just playing, giving feedback, writing up bugs and getting the information required to get them fixed. Sometimes it's MP testing if you're available. We just want the game to be rock solid and we add a ton of new features and many times things slip through. We only have 4 dedicated QA on staff right now and we could use a few more.

Right now they are running through the new map pack scenarios and looking out for bugs for a mini patch. You represent the players and your feedback is vital to the game. What we want is positive contributions, what we don't need is people that just like to complain or get upset if every feature they request doesn't make it in the game.

You don't have to be a great player, but you must enjoy playing the game a lot, because you'll be doing it a lot.

Hey Norb,

I'd be interested. I spent some time trying to figure out why RebBugler's Large Courier Screen didn't work for me and some others and I really enjoyed it. I have the time, interest, and a high speed internet connection (20Mbs on a good day). I do a lot of troubleshooting for my job (I'm an independent IT consultant) so I have a lot of experience with figuring stuff out. My only concern would be that I'm not an experienced SOWGB player but I am enthusiastic and I suspect that I would get that experience in a hurry if I took this on. Let me know if I can be of help.

It would just take too long to download the tons of updates that we do during development if you don't have a good connection speed. Sorry about that, but it would just get too frustrating for you by not being able to keep up. I appreciate the offer though.

Hi Norb.

Not a problem I understand fully. As normal if I come across any problems I'll post them.

Cheers...

Thanks and that helps out a lot. If we receive any issues here or in our support email, we put them right into our bug database.

One item we really need a a regular MP player. All they would have to do is participate in the MP games on a regular basis and report the bugs, feature requests into our bug database. We've realized this is our biggest hole right now.

Norb, I’m not sure that it is possible, but it would probably help you out if you had an (AI) player in a lot of those games that recorded all of the information from the games, and then downloaded the results.

That way, you could just analyze all of that information if there were ever a problem.
