Unzip and place the folder, CourierFix, in your mod folder. Then go to the game's mods screen and select it.

It fixes a number of issues with the stock courier file. With most orders, the player assumes that he is telling his subordinate to do something,(move, assume a stance, etc.), with his unit. However, with the stock file, the player is really ordering the subordinate to do these things and the unit is unaffected. There are also a few new formations included.
