Help! AN5 scenario has got me flummoxed!

Post by Jolly »

I've tried all sort of tactics, but I just get massacred by the Union artillery.
Maybe someone has some tips?

I hate giving up! :)

All I can say is keep trying. There are variants, some easier than others. Each time you play, it will be slightly different. But its all about being as aggressive as possible and grabbing the OBJ's as quickly as possible. Any other players have some advice to offer?

Also, don't forget you have artillery to help if needed.

No advice, I'm afraid.
Don't know if it's any consolation but I've just checked my high score and it wasn't even a draw

Well, I just managed a score of 2585 (normal setting) but my men were decimated using the agressive tactics LP advises. Of course time is against you on this one, nevermind the overwhelming odds it seems.
A good challenge for sure!

4333 is a pretty good score Sarge :)

Just looked back at my scores:

1st run - 1685

2nd run - 4388

The first and only time in the history of gaming has JC been beaten by a mere mortal. As I recall he had a 105 fever and drunk a bottle of Jack Daniels when he posted that score. :P

The best you can do is take Law's Brigade in first - have the 11th Miss. take out the 2nd USSS on the left.....then if they're not too tired have them charge them Yankee Guns along the road (if they are too tired.....bring up another Regiment). Set Law in place at the VP.

Have Wofford and the Texicans/Georgians come in behind Law as support at the VP. If you can hold, you should get a MV.

There's a variant where the Yankee Guns at the forward of the fence line in front of the VP, will displace......leaving just Yankee Infantry. ;)

Thanks JC for the advice.

Just remember, if you do your homework, you will read that Hoods division was decimated after this engagement. So of course a historical scenario on this engagement is going to be TOUGH.

When we choose scenarios, we always want to give the player a chance to try and change history... Can you take the Cornfield and north fence of the Cornfield with at least some of your division intact? :)
