Visual C++ Runtime problem

Post by wde348 »

Greetings:

I just had to replaced a failed video card, and when I tried to launch SOW I got an error message: Visual C++ Runtime Library: Application has requested the Runtime to terminate. Don't know what that means, except that it won't run. I reinstlled the base game and patch 1.4, and get the same error. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Sorry, the error message said "Application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusal way."

Thanks

Is it a different video card than your old one? If so, does it have the latest drivers?

Thanks for the reply. It is a bigger card of the same manufacturer (NVidia GeForce 210). I also had trouble with another video applications after the hardware change and reinstallation (registration problems), and found that I could run it as administrator. I tried changing permission settings and several restarts, which (interestingly enough) resulted in SOW working again. I will reinstall Pipe Creek and Antietam next. So, for now, things are ok.

This is a terrific game, one I feel like I have been waiting for since I first received Avalon Hill's Gettyburg about fifty years ago (yes, I'm kinda old!). I look forward to what comes next.

You sound like me, I had AH's Gettysburg game way back then, and have played most of the Civil War computer games starting on the Commodore 64 up to now. I had waited a long time for a game of this quality to hit the market. A wait well worth it.
