Here is a small util I just started to use for my minecraft local server. It is called "Spacebukkit", and after installing it I am now able to do quite a few things with the server. What Spacebukkit allows you to do is remote connect, and manage your minecraft server from no matter where you may connect from such as your workplace, sitting down having a coffee in your local coffee shop, etc.
This software is free to everyone, and is in Beta stage. Here are a few pic's of it in action (this is the version I am using at the moment). I had to paitently wait for someone to join the online game so I could take screenshots of certain functions).
Where to get this great util can be found at the bottom of this post.
Main
[players tab]
[chat]
[worlds you are running]
[plugins at the moment running]
[plugins 2 - you can download, and install any plugin from a massive online database. Pretty easy]
You will need these things to get this to work properly.
Craftbukkit: http://dl.bukkit.org/downloads/craftbukkit/
Server Remote Toolkit: http://wiki.bukkit.org/Server_Remote_To ... nd_startup
SpaceBukkit Website: http://spacebukkit.xereo.net/
Install these things in that order...
My Personal local server is: jaio.no-ip.org
You only need too own Minecraft. Just run Minecraft, select MP, add jaio.no-ip.org the defualt port which is 25565 will work, and you should be playing without a hitch!
Hamachi IS NOT REQUIRED!
Update - Edited
I decided to place this server as a Off-Line server meaning that you do not require to login to the main Minecraft login server to play. Once you reach my server just type in /register then your password. This will lock your character in so that no one else can take over your character. Here is an example...
I reached the server, I then type in if I am a new player: /register lookatme then I will have registered, then type in
If you log back in the next day you may reguire to login to continue on playing. Here is an example: /login lookatme will log me into the server.
Later!

Update: I just a thought. Wouldn't it be nice to see folks being able to create their own Scourge of War Gettysburg servers for people to join...
So how about it, will there be a way someday to create your own server for SOW?

Just a thought, but instead of opening a new thread each time you find a new thing for Minecraft, why don't you just have a Minecraft thread and add everything into it? That way the whole forum doesn't get scattergunned by Minecraft threads.
HITS & Couriers - a different and realistic way to play SoW MP.

Digby is kind of like the self-appointed neighborhood watchman George Zimmermen, only he's the self-appointed forum watchman.
Good thing he's a brit and not allowed a concealed handgun license.
:woohoo:
Oh. . . I know. . . a solution. Mike gets his own forum category: "Stream of Conscious with mikesla."

You do make a good point, it would cut down on the clutter but each article is different from one another which is why I decided to create a new topic/thread for each. It would be no different if anyone who wished to discuss the American Civilwar to no longer create new threads, just create one thread topic, and just post under that header.Just a thought, but instead of opening a new thread each time you find a new thing for Minecraft, why don't you just have a Minecraft thread and add everything into it? That way the whole forum doesn't get scattergunned by Minecraft threads.
One dealt with my Minecraft server, the other is about Minecraft itself, and this one is about a Minecraft's remote server manager.
I'll do what I can from now on, I'll watch my step. B)
Personally, I really don't want to have to go back, and create my own forum...damn lonely in there. :pinch:

Maybe NSD will place him as a moderator.... Still trying to figure if I would be banned or not after my first 20 posts. :laugh:Digby is kind of like the self-appointed neighborhood watchman George Zimmermen, only he's the self-appointed forum watchman.

I do see his point, and it would keep things more neat, and tidy.
Haaaa, okay that is funny! Maybe they can create an area that you have to subscribe too this way my posts will only show up for those who wish to keep track of what I am up too... :laugh:Oh. . . I know. . . a solution. Mike gets his own forum category: "Stream of Conscious with mikesla."
Cheers!
