Music Theme

Post by BOSTON »

When the preview first came out, there was some talk about the music theme. I was wondering if there might be a selection of themes/songs that could be available in the next game such as Dixie, When Johnny comes marching home, Battle hymn of the Republic and others, that could be picked or randomly played, cause you know we are going to be into the game for days on end. If it's hard to do for NSD, drop a line and let me/us know.

Thanks, Hoistingman4

It's possible, there are a ton of royalty free music sites out there and I'm sure some of them have these songs. I know that VonViper is looking around for exactly this sort of thing.

the trick is to find (or create) a decent/realistic version of these songs, not just the songs themselves... while there are a large number of links to these recordings, most of the ones that are royalty-free are MIDI versions. bleh.

we'd need our sound guy to get the song music and create a version that sounds more like period-style music.

Whatever you do, don't have voiced songs:( like in the HPS games, they were enough to drive me up a wall after awhile. Had to be a bunch of losers from a Star scearch show. :S

Maybe "Camp Chase Fife and Drums" would let you use their music in exchange for a plug in the game advertising.

Has anyone else ever heard of the Second South Carolina Regimental String Band? These guys do fabulous camp music, they are great musucians that play music from the 1840's to 1860's. I imagine that they are as close as you could come to Jeb Stuart's musicians back in the day. They actually played "Bonnie Blue Flag" in the movie "Gods and Generals" so they had 3 minutes of stardom.

Camp Chase Fife and Drums? You mean these guys?
Got one of their albums and heard them live at a reenactment.
They're great!

I don't know how to post pictures, or other stuff, however, what I see you (and others) do looks cool. ;)
