New Scenario, September 18th?

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

New Scenario, September 18th?

Post by IronBMike »

I think it would be awesome to have a September 18th scenario, where McClellan tries to finish Lee off before he can complete the river crossing. Both armies are desperate, disorganized, and bloodied but they pitch into battle one more time.

Anything like this exist or is in the works?
CWGII -> SMG -> SMA -> WNLB -> ANGV -> TC -> TC2M -> SOW

Nothing like this in the works, but it wouldn't be that hard to design. You could generally use the troop positions and strengths from the end of AN20 (the Stuart Cavalry scenario). They are the positions of both armies for the very end of the battle, and you could use your imagination for making any adjustments to them.

As far as scripting goes it would also all depend on what you want to do with it. Union scenarios would be a piece of cake to script because you would basically be putting the Confederates on the defensive. Confederate scenarios would of course be much more involved because you would be scripting the Union to attack.

Cool idea, sounds really fun. I'm afraid I don't have the time to take this on, however if you or any other aspiring scenario designers would like to design it, I'd be happy to offer advice, source files, etc.

OK Yanks, here ya go, a chance to crush the Army of Northern Virginia before Lee can retreat from the Antietam battlefield on September 18. Very limited scripting for the final battle plus no objectives, just attack and kick butt. The scripting is limited because the river is basically impassable, so, no real escape route. Maybe someday the map can be edited with a bridge, making a more realistic what if possible so escape scripting is practical.

AN21e, 3 hours, was built before the 6 hour version AN18 was designed, giving me a chance to release it finally for a requested purpose. It carries over to AN22e so essentially, two new scenarios. All you need is a draw to carry over and continue play with the second scenario.

If you prefer, AN23e can be played right off. It's troop numbers have been adjusted as per historic statistics recorded upon the conclusion of the battle on Sept 17th.

AN21e-Sept17-Antietam, The Bloodiest Day 3hours (U-Army)
AN22eCarryover-Sept18-Gonads for McClellan (U-Army)
AN23e-Sept18-Gonads for McClellan (U-Army)

Unzip and copy to the Mods folder. Enable in Modifications, scenarios will appear in 'User Scenarios'

Patch 1.5 is not necessary to play these scenarios, however, Antietam is. Regardless, the newest patch is always recommended, plus many of the most popular mods require it now.
