I finally did a video on this game, and this is what I have in my description.
Stay away from this game, it is not worth the time. This is small two part video of the online game called Hawken. There are two major issues I have with this game (more than two, but these are the most serious of the lot). The first is that the maps are so closed in. The developers of this game would have been better off to try the format that the developers of World of Tanks by having large battlefields. The second is the Mechs DO NOT feel like Mechs at all. Anyone who has played any of the Mechwarrior games in the past knows the lumbering feeling while piloting a giant 40 ton mechanical monster, and the Mechs in Hawken just do not feel like that at all instead it felt like I was driving a Volkswagon Beatle with weapons, and a jetpack on my rear end.
This game just isn't good enough at this stage to be counted as any serious competition to any other online game that is on the market at the moment. If they had larger battlefields instead of the closed in maps they would attract more customers, and they might want to rework the mechanics of the Mechs themselves otherwise this is a game I strongly suggest that you stay away from if you have any intention of spending your hard earned money. If you have the extra cash, I suggest that you go, and play World of Tanks.
I took this game off of my Harddrive because it fails in so many areas that I found it rather sickening. This doesn't happen all that often, in fact the only game other than Hawken that made me feel sick was a First Person Shooter called Command, and Conquer Renegade, and I had enough sense to throw it in the dumpster.
Note: I do not say these things lightly, I truly do feel offended by this game, and how shallow, and closed minded it is. Also, I DO NOT work for the developers of WOT, or any other company out there, I am just a normal guy who likes to play games, and I have no intention of holding back on something when it is this bad.
I really did want this game to succeed. Who knows maybe when the developers get their act together. I find it so amazing that developers still have no idea what really works in a game after all of these years.
