How to tell how the battle is going?

Post by Terry4 »

So as I am up to about 100 games or so on Scourge of War Gettysburg, I am losing many of the battles and would like a tip or two as to how to monitor how I'm doing mid-battle. It's still fun but winning is more fun!

Check what points you need to win the scenario then look at the map to see what objectives there are and how many points you accrue for taking and/or holding them. Keep referring to this and work out your projected points in the time still available. This should give you a guide and also help you plan your strategy

I always try to get the objectives and then try to hold them. I just got a victory in the first scenario for Antietam (C-brig in the cornfield). If I didn't have the objective for most of the fight I would have lost since all of my units but one had negative points. I was 400 points from major victory even though 3 of my units were routed and the others got pushed back almost to the fence near the road behind where you start the battle.
