SoW Antietam ffd show?

Game won't run. Keeps crashing. Hopefully we won't get any posts here, but if we do, we'll try to help you out. You can also post any bugs that you find here. IMPORTANT: Don't post mod related problems here!

SoW Antietam ffd show?

Post by Grognard Pierre »

Gents,
I have the version 1.61 of Sow and the v150 of Antietam. By my reading of the Matrix website these games are up to date. The Antietam game loads alright but unfortunately the second time I attempted to play a scenario a popup box appeared asking if I want to use ffdshow (once, always, no this once, never)
Then the game sound continued but the vision was a black quarter screen.
I cannot disable the game, other than doing a computer restart. After this event every time I tried to open a scenario of Antietam the same thing happened.
I did the version 1.61 update for Sow again, played one Antietam scenario but then the problem reoccurred on the second game.
Has anyone else seen this and/or have any suggestions?

I would start with uninstalling ffdshow.

Thanks, but I do not have ffdshow installed. I do not know why the program asks for ffdshow but it presumably has something to do with my SoW Antietam module / installation. Any other ideas appreciated.

I have no idea what to do with this, but for what it is worth the dialog box says;

"The application "SOWGB.exe" has made an attempt to load ffdshow.
This dialog is shown because this application is not listed in the ffdshow white list or blacklist.
Your choice will be applied to both audio and video, if both are used.
* Don't use ffdshow. (just this once)
* Don't use ffdshow.
* Use ffdshow. (just this once)
* Use ffdshow. (always)
Explanation
ffdshow will behave as if it were not installed.

This problem only occurs when I attempt to play SOW Antietam. The other SOW modules and game are fine.
It makes no difference which option I select from the above.
Maybe I should scource and load ffdshow? I don't know, I was hoping somebody else has dealt with this before me.

Regards

If it is asking for ffdshow, then there is some kind of reference to it on your machine.

I found this online. Look for Matroska Pack within the Add/Remove Programs applet. It should be installed to C:\Program Files\Matroska Pack\ffdshow.
