Where do i go to edit a basic (non-custom generated) .csv file?
Where do i go to edit a basic (non-custom generated) .csv file?
if I wanted to play a generic SOW solo/sandbox game (let's say Gettysburg, day 2), where exactly in my SOW game folder will I find the .csv file for this particular sandbox?
I know where/how/etc. if I've created the scenario, but I assume somewhere "in" my SOW folder are all the files (incl a .csv file) needed to play Gettysburg (or any of the other expansions I have)...I just don't know where to look?
thanks!

If I'm reading this right, probably not,... but I think that you need to download the SDK .

If I wanted to view the contents of a Scenario - I would look at the files that are located in the Work \ SDK \ Scenarios folder.

The only true logic is that, there is no true logic!

ok, I downloaded "SOWGBSDK1_6Beta.exe" (haven't installed it yet, because I really don't know what it is)...this file seems to be a few years old, is it just an "update" of SOW? or is it some type of editing program for SOW? thanks...

In the normal install of the game, many of the game files are packed inside of the .SOW file. The SDK contains those files unpacked, so that you can use them to create your own modifications. So when you install the SDK, it places all of those unpacked files into Work\SDK. It has the logistics files, the map files, the scenario files, etc. It also includes the SDK manual, which explains everything you need to know (well almost everything) to mod the game.
The best way to create your own mod is to look at another similar mod, and compare.
I've never created a map or scenario without starting it from another map or scenario.

thanks...so, installing this will NOT override my SOW game/files, but just create a separate folder within SOW?

great...i'll install it this morning...(so, this will "add to" my existing "work folder"...not override all my custom scenarios and other folders/files already in it?)

It shouldn't, but I'm not really sure what you have in there. You can always make a backup of your Work folder if you are concerned.

will do...thanks again...
Re: Where do i go to edit a basic (non-custom generated) .csv file?
ok...I got that download, and installed it...I now have an OOBs folder, which does seem to list the basic SOW OOBs that come with the game; all the .csv files...there are 3 total that ref Gettysburg Day 2...but, regardless of my editing any/all of them the changes I make do not show up in any Gettysburg Day 2 sandbox game I try and load/play?
can anyone point me directly to the exact file I can edit that will (for example) allow me to make a change to the standard GB Day 2 sandbox game? thanks...
