Frustrating

Post by Nilam »

Hi Guys,
First off I want this to be constructive because I know I cant be the only one suffering this.

1.getting that green line to face the way you want.
2.is there a bayonet charge.
3.does volley fire work (some times)British front rank should Kneel.
4. tried playing at 1920 x 1080 got solid boxes instead of sprites.
5. general stands in open under fire.
6. I want to walk my troops backwards while facing forward.

Yes I have played TW and I know this game is far more expansive but you still need better control
over troop movements in combat. realism is just as important (to me at least) as the scale.

I so much want to get into this game but finding it very frustrating. :(

2. when a unit is not moving --click on flag 2nd Icon down (it is green) from upper left..Also can do it for Whole BRIG...just click on the General
3. Unk....not tried it
4. Use search here/matrix in forums...a thread under support for that..a fix too
5. Yes has been a problem from way back in the other Series too.....(GET HOT--NORB :P)
6. Retreat or the Fail Back button...Icon..see #2 above

Yes I had the black boxes at 1080P but the fix is to set your Windows compatibility mode to Win 7 for this game, I know that fixed it for me as I have Win 8.1. Hope that helps you. Don't give up stick with it, I did and I discovered the best Napoleonic wargame I have ever played.

Ok played a few more time now on different scenarios and I'm getting the hang of it, so I think the problem is in certain Battles not the game itself as I just played as the Dutch in sandbox and it played out perfectly. :)

Still cant seem to get them to charge though,

. Select command menu available under "Mods". That has a charge command. Also, run as win 7 compatible and also as administrator.

Glad you are getting the feel for it :).

Charging - there is a command to charge on the UI (one of the green arrows). It only shows when the unit is engaged and stationary (if i recall).

Volley Fire - It works :). it gives you a morale hit on the enemy target due to the high casualty rate. You can order it yourself or the AI will do it based on commander ability. To show kneeling we would have to add another sprite animation. There is a limit to how many we can put it, there must be hundreds of individual animations if you consider all the different uniforms we have. Standing and firing does as much damage, besides it would get their knees dirty :).

General standing around - make sure you havent "taken charge" of him, we call it TC, there is a button on the toolbar. Some scenarios start with officers under TC. So they will only move if you move them.
