Two Commands Queries

Hi
Can anybody explain to me what the endscenario command does and what the carryover facility is that the editor manual says it enables?
Guard Command
When I start a scenario I typically protect a number of my forward artillery batteries by issuing Guard commands to either cavalry or infantry to protect them. This becomes tedious when I am replaying a scenario that I have amended to test my new version. Consequently I decided to put several Guard commands into the Battlescript but I find they do not seem to work and often the game starts with the Guard cursor enabled as if the script had partially executed a Guard command but not completed it. Has anybody else tried putting several Guard commands into the Battlescript and had it work?
Regards
Mike
