New Gettysburg Map

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

New Gettysburg Map

Post by MarkT »

Here is the link for a Nine mile (81 square miles) True scale map.
This map covers a large portion of Adams county, Pennsylvania surrounding the town of Gettysburg.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ivkzmd3fos0nt ... g.zip?dl=0

Download the zip file
Right click, go to properties and "unblock" if necessary.
Move contents to Mods folder.

Someone please take this link over as I will not be able to maintain it. Thanks

In the works:
1. Mod - Little Bighorn and Battle of the Rosebud. Complete and beautiful mod on Custer, and the 1876 Indian war.
2. Mod - Honey Springs Mod (western battle of the Civil War.)
3. Currently on the table is a redo of the Manassas Battlefield. a 12 mile (144 square mile), true scale map, that will cover the entire area of both First and Second Manassas.

Thanks everyone,

Mark

Great Addition!

Been looking forward to a GB map large enough to include the East Cavalry Field actions as well as other engagements that occurred on the outskirts of the main battle.

I've only done one fly around checking out the main battle arena and all the details appear right on. The terrain is nicely done with lots of historically accurate fencing and especially, stone walls. This map has the appearance of being a catalyst for reawakening the battle of GB for further modding.

Thanks for giving this game a bionic boost with this, and your other excellent offerings :)

MarkT - Excellent Job on the Gettysburg Map!

Forty thousand worm fences have got to be a record for any map.

Question - Why did You make them so low to the ground - is that how tall they were during that period?

It took Me two days of looking at the code to figure out which values controlled the height, and use a Hex-Editor to change all of them to a higher value, doing them by hand would have took a year. Hex-Editor less than a minute.

Either way, Great Job!
