The field of Pickett's Charge at dawn

Here are a few photo's taken from my walk of the fields of Pickett's Charge during my visit last week.

I woke up early Wednesday morning to get some nice dawn photo's, and also to avoid other tourists. I was the only person on the field at the time.. It was just me and the ghosts. I literally walked in the footsteps of the soldiers engaged in the battle.

Notice the snow on the ground. Hope you enjoy. There will be many more posted in my blog as soon as I have the time to update it.

Lovely ground, isn't it! I have been looking through the pictures that I took and it is such a beautiful place. A shame so many fought and died there.

I like the snow on the leading edge of the 72nd PA Inf statue. Leaning into the blizzard to club someone on the noggin.

It would have been an interesting battle in the snow.

i can't believe they still had snow on the ground... crazy. that would have impacted my own experience of the field, no doubt.

It certainly impacted the temperature of my feet.. They just about froze off. :laugh:

That was the only time it snowed the whole trip. It had snowed a little the night before, and the snow was all melted towards the end of my walk. Although it made the field look quite different than it would have looked during the battle, it made it more beautiful IMO.
