New Patch v103 Error

After installing download version SOWWLv103 from Matrix site, I get missing steam_api.dll error message.
I have the SOWWL Collectors Edition v102 purchased from Matrix. Nothing steam related about it.

I also posted this on Matrix Forum, but thought some might see this who don't venture over to their forum.

I reinstalled v102 and it always runs fine. I re-downloaded v103, to be sure I did not have a corrupt d/l previously. Same error occurs. I even tried downloading from the secondary server site, same results.

Here is some pertinent info:

I have the Collectors Edition, purchased from the Matrix store. (I do have a few steam version games, but not SOWWL, as I prefer not to buy steam version if standard d/l version is available.)

I did not use default install location. I installed to D:\Other Military Sims\Scourge of War Waterloo Collectors Edition.

I prefer not to use the autorun.exe and run the game straight from the SOWWL.exe. (I get the steam_api.dll error even running the autorun.exe

I have Windows 10 Home Edition 64.

SOWWL v102 runs fine, so I'm not dead in the water. However, I sure would like to run v103.

Just to be sure: has the patch been downloaded from the Matrix site or did you use the auto-update of game? the error you described sounds to me like the exe of patch you installed is that one used for the steam version, but it will have impacted other people too, so I wonder the difference is the download location from the website and not with the auto-update, perhaps they uploaded the wrong version of patch (the steam version) in the website ftp.

this is sounding like an isolated error as I have done a clean install and have not seen this issue - I also run Win 10 Home and the non-steam Matrix version of SOWWL. I also downloaded the update rather than use the broken auto update feature. To be clear, I downloaded the update from the Matrix Members page link.

Have you tried to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of the game?

I downloaded from the Matrix site members download section. Tried both the primary and secondary download links, as well.

Yes, I have done a complete uninstall and reinstall, with the same error result.

The latest response to my post on the Matrix forum was - they are looking into the issue.

I will post here with the results, once received.

Matrix now has an updated v103 file in the downloads section. I thought it was a complete install, however, discovered it is to be installed as an update, over v102.

Error resolved.

It gives current version as 1.0106

crashes at "loading battle events"

Log gives a lot of errors on loading terrain textures.
Ends with:
11:30:00 Loading Battle Events
11:30:00 SowWL Level Loaded...

And suddenly it works...

reinstalled the game.
ran update 102, got a box I didn't get before, with update details.
ran update 103

This is a follow-on from my postings with Reb and Grog re: Toolbar V.

After various trial and errors, I have determined it is update 1.03 which is the problem.

Download game (From Matrix) - install - open, runs fine.

Download WLSDK - install - open, no issues..

Download update 1.03 (from Matrix) - install - CTD.

Reboot comp - open, CTD.

Log shows same issue as others above - bloody terrain features not loading.

Note - Comp running Win7 with massive power and 16 Gigs RAM for the Vid Card.

Also, have just the basic, original game.

Thoughts?
