New Sounds Wont Play

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

New Sounds Wont Play

Post by SPARTANMST »

I've created my own HD sound mod to replace the cannon and gunfire sounds. I've created .wav files and renamed them to match the original file names which I want to replace, I've created a mod folder with an intro text file and then I have a 'Sounds' folder with the replacement .wav files inside. When I have the mod enabled in-game, none of the sounds will play.

Does anyone have any idea why this might be and how to go about fixing it? Is there a limit on audio file size that the game will play?

Note, each sound effect is only a few seconds long, just like the originals.

Thanks

Have you tried taking the original sound files out & replace them with your new ones, if that didn't work put the original files back.

Sounds like you’ve kept the same names so may be file properties issue.

Your new sounds should have the same properties as the originals. Open the original in your sound editor and note it’s properties - bit, MHz mono or stereo etc.

If your new sound doesn’t match these then the game may not recognise it. You can save your new sounds with the appropriate properties using your sound editor.

I discovered the issue... I had the new files set as stereo files so it wouldn't play. Changed to Mono and problem solved!
