Q: My game crashed, “What is Level Not found?”.
A: The 'Level Not found' error shows up in the sowwl.log file when the map files
can't be found. This error usually shows up playing a custom scenario. In that
case check in Modifications that the map mod used by that scenario is available
and enabled. Check the scenario.ini file to find the name of the map that the
scenario uses. "Level Not Found" is also a map mismatch in multiplayer when map
versions do not match.

Q: Can't find a file. The file that shows errors after you play a game, or
crash, is no longer in the 'Work' folder. Where is it?
A: You're referring to the log file (sowwl.log). It's located in your
Documents/SOWWL folder. All present and future SOW releases will install the
SOWWL folder in your computer's 'Documents' folder.

Q: Is there a way to change SOW resolutions before opening the game?
A: Yes, go to your Documents/SOWWL folder and open the sowwl.ini file. On the
line 'screen res=0' fill in the desired SOW resolution number:
Resolution - SOW Resolution Number
1024x768 - 0
1280x768 - 1
1152x864 - 2
1280x800 - 3
1360x768 - 4
1366x768 - 5
1280x960 - 6
1440x900 - 7
1280x1024 - 8
1600x900 - 9
1600x1024 - 10
1768x992 - 11
1680x1050 - 12
1600x1200 - 13
1920x1080 - 14
1920x1200 - 15
1920x1440 - 16
2048x1536 - 17
2560x1440 - 18
2560x1600 - 19
3840x2160 - 20
4096x2160 - 21
EXAMPLE:
[initialization]
screen res=5
full screen=1
(example showing that 'screen res = 5' will display a resolution of '1366x768')
After changing resolution number, 'Save' file.

Q: I'm now using an LCD HDTV monitor. The game looks great but I can't see the
full tool bar at the bottom of the game screen. I'm running the recommended
resolution of 1024x768 in the game.
A: In your Documents/SOWWL folder open the sowwl.ini file. In the
[initialization] section "full screen =1" should fix your issue. In general,
matching your computer's resolution with the game's resolution works best for
most configurations.

Q: Is there a way to temporarily return to my computer without ending or
quitting a game in progress?
A: Yes, to minimize the game and return to your desktop do the following:
- Hold down the Alt key
- Press the Tab key
- Once on your desktop the game icon will appear on your taskbar. Use that link
to either continue (click) the game or close it (right click menu).
- Probably best to Pause (key 'P') your game before minimizing it.

Q: Is it possible to modify carryover scenarios to unlock regardless of the
outcome of the previous scenario?
A: Yes, open the scenario.ini file and type a semi-colon (;) in front of the
line that begins with "Carryover from...", then save the file. Or, you can
redefine the “Major Victory” condition (lower points required) in the
previous scenario and re-play it.

Q: Several of the stock WL scenarios begin with all subordinate units being on
"Take Charge from AI". Is it possible to change this to "TC off" at scenario
start?
A: Yes, once the scenario opens go to your keyboard and press '8'. This
initiates the command 'Atcommoff', which changes all subordinates to TC off.
Check out your 'Keyboard.csv' file located in your computer's 'Documents/SOWWL'
folder. It contains many handy keyboard solutions for improving your playing
experience. Also you can customize it according to your preferences.

Q: I'm not able to play as an army in the Sandbox battle mode. I select army vs
Army and the commander Napoleon from the Waterloo Order of battle and when the
battle starts there in only Napoleon with a contingent of 20,000 men.
A: To play a full army version in sandbox enable this mod included with the
game: Waterloo SOW\Mods\Full_French_Campaign. Then select 'OOB_SB_FullFrench'
for your sandbox OOB.

Q: I built a custom toolbar mod and it works great with sandbox play. However,
when I try to play WL scenarios with it, some of its commands crash the game.
Why is this happening?
A: WL stock scenarios cannot be played with all mods. They can be played with
mods that add new files or functions once they're copied, renamed and listed in
a mod. They then will be available to play through the 'User Scenarios' section
when their mod is enabled.

Q: Why aren't there options in the GUI to set Antialiasing and Anisotropic
filtering? Is it possible to use these graphics settings?
A: Yes, they can be adjusted in the Documents/SowWL/sowwl.ini file.

Q: In the 'context menu' files, can someone explain the 'RadioBase' function to
me please? It seems to be used in conjunction with formation buttons and some
commands, they just seem like individual IDs for each command group in a layout
but I'm wondering if the number is tied to specific functions, etc.
A: The 'RadioBase' functions are used to prevent queuing up of more than one
formation, so that only the last formation selected is included in the queued
set.

Q: When panning the camera, I prefer the 'right click hold on the toolbar'
method. However, occasionally I forget to have the cursor on the toolbar and
when I right click hold I mess up my previous unit's positioning. Is there any
way to cancel this goof up?
A: Yes. When you make this mistake you will immediately see the direction arrow
on the map. That's your cue to keep holding down the 'right click hold'
function and move the cursor over the toolbar. Once over the toolbar release
the 'right click hold' and the movement error is aborted.

Q: According to some screenshots I recently observed there should be more
buildings than what I'm observing on my map. What's going on?
A: Check your map display settings in 'Options'. In order to show all buildings
on any SOW map the setting should be set on 'Best'.

Q: All of my unit sprites look similar. For example I played a sandbox Game as a
British brigade and the Cameron highlanders had the same skin as the 95th Rifles
and the other two infantry battalions.
A: In 'Options' p.2 set 'Uniform Quality' to 'Best'.

Q: Queue execution does not work properly, here's my procedure:
1. I choose my officer.
2. I right click on the location, I right click on the formation, I right click
on 'Double Quick' for the unit(s)‚ I right click on 'Leader Double Quick' for
the officer, at the end I click 'Execute Selected Commands'.
- My unit runs to the ordered position/formation, but my officer is riding
slowly forward. Shouldn’t the officer now gallop?
A: You don't need the two run commands. Double quick (the red button) will
double quick both officers and units. The officer command is only if you want to
move the officer at double quick separately. Unintentionally, you found a
useful queue sequence. What you're doing inadvertently is, you are turning the
run OFF on your officer. Which actually could be a good thing in some situations
if you want your officer to pokey along behind the unit and not run the risk of
being killed out front.

Q: While trying to open the game i get a"Runtime Error!" message and the game
crashes.
A: Try uninstalling then reinstalling. If this is a new game that you just
downloaded and installed, it is suggested that you re-download and reinstall
again. Your download might have been corrupted during the download process.

Q: My game is showing poor performance with constant lags throughout. I checked
out the 'Tech Support' section of the forum and found that the anti-virus app
Webroot, which I run, is known to cause performance issues. The solution
offered is to turn Webroot off but I don't want to leave my computer vulnerable
to viruses. Is there a better solution than turning Webroot completely off.
A: Yes. We've had numerous reports regarding Webroot performance issues. The
best solution we've received to date is to go into the Webroot settings and turn
off the "Realtime Shield", rather than the entire program. This solves the
performance issues while still allowing Webroot to protect your computer.
