ADVANCE BUTTON

Post by BOSTON »

Can you program the Advance Button to move a unit forward without that unit being engaged ? It seems it would be ideal in cases just to line up one unit to others in a batteline, without a lot of hassle. Or to go forward just those few yards to engage. Sometimes making those simple moves gets so sticky to do otherwize, and without the best results. :(

Without the SDK you can't, but you could take a look in the keyboard.csv.

I'd like to make myself clear on a simple move by an infantry line to go a few yards in the present play; first you have click on the unit, second point to the new position, thirdly watch that unit flip flop end to end to go those few yards (I'm talking 1 to 2 yards in many cases). which to me does not seem normal, never mind time consuming. The flip flop from end to end is not necessary, it's not something you would see in an Advance Command. ;)

The flip flop can really be aggravating. That is something I'd love to see corrected.

I was not looking for an improvement just for little ole me, but to benifit everybody. I can't see how anybody who has played the game has not noticed this quirky feature of a line flip flopping.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is aggravated by those convoluted evolutions/snakey imitating regimental moves. The first time I saw that I thought "What the hell...". Hope that can be corrected. Detracts from the immersion.
You can get farther with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone.

Good looking out! I was not aware of that post/thread, of which there have been soooo many of in the recent weeks. Was taking a little hiatus when the game broke, been like a three legged cat trying to cover it's poop, catching up. :P

After reviewing the stats in keyboardcsv, it shows 300 with advance, the problem must be that the units simply won't advance unless engaged, that's where I think the problem is. At least I have not had success using the advance else wize, I don't know if anybodyelse has had a problem using Advance for positioning.

(ex) If my reg. is standing there idle, highlighted, it should be able to move upon using the Advance Button.

If you want I"ll do the save thing and send it to you. (There's a first time for everything)

You are correct, they have to be engaged in order for the advance button to work. The purpose of the button is to advance while firing at an enemy, as opposed to physically moving your regiment, they will stop firing.
