Moving artillery forward? What a terrible idea! No real commander would ever move their artillery that far forward (however, no commander would ever do what I did, either).
There are three key points for this scenario: All of Hall's battery must be taken as quickly as possible, not one Confederate regiment can retreat, and the Confederates must route the southward 3/5ths of Cutler's brigade within the first 5-10 minutes. No artillery movement is necessary, but a whole lot of regimental level micromanaging (NO AI).
So, started off with Davis' regiment closest to the battery and moved against the guns. Took Davis' middle regiment and attacked the 147th NY (Cutler's middle regiment). Detached the 5th AL Battalion from Archer and move that to attack the front of Cutler's southmost two regiments, and the farthest east regiment of Archer is moved to capture Hall's remaining cannon.
After all this is done, cannon fire and the fire of three confederate regiments should cause the southward-most 3/5ths of Cutler's Brigade to retreat. Archer should bring the rest of his brigade to support the captured guns in front of the Iron Brigade and set up along the fenceline (at the doublequick, everything!). Fortunatly, the first regiment of the Iron Brigade to attack is always the 2nd Wisconsin (the best one), and the guns can chew up this regiment before they run out of cannister.
Meanwhile, the 5th AL Battalion and Heth should move to the McPhearson Ridge waypoint along the road, and Davis should take is brigade to demolish Cutler's remaining two regiments as fast as possible.
On the other flank, you must carefully watch your four regiments, because the fire from the Iron Brigade is always hot and heavy. Lots of micromanaging. Back with Davis, you should continue to press forwards and destroy Cutler's brigade (leaving a regiment and a commander to secure the objective). I managed to route the entire brigade within 30 minutes.
Finally, send Davis's brigade to attack the flank of the Iron Brigade, and game over.
I routed all but 2 regiments of the Iron Brigade, which could have been routed as well, but I had so many casualties that I was worried that perhaps I would lose points, the Iron Brigade is always a viable force, even when decimated.
6000 points, artillery never moved, and with the 8 regiments (7 and 1 battalion) supplied at the beginning of the scenario.

I had me too many difficulty with this scenario at grognards level. Archer brigade is very far at the start and he lost one regiment before the first order can arrive with the courier because of gun canisters on the left of federals, and he obey to orders with many difficulties, also with AI deactivated the same the single regiments also if the Heth is near them. The arty commanders also disobey to order to advance the guns, so I must give the order battery for battery. Probably I do some error, but I noted also in other mathcs that with AI deactivated some regiments make nothing after have received a order.

Just got game today, having great time. Started gb2 with some trepidation after reading posts. Thought I would give it a go, and to my surprise Pettigrew and Brocky brigades turned up immediaetly! Fairly one sided battle and ended with score of 5200. Felt a bit cheated because it was too easy. Fired scenario back up, this time no reinforcements show up.
Luckily Archer and Davis carry the day with a score of 5700. Capturing union battery and getting to the victory location double quick are the key to this one, as well as keep Davis 's brigade to the Right side of the railroad cut and ignore the other victory location.
Been reading forum for a while, great to be able to contribute, now that I've enlisted in the ACW and fought my first battles. Go the Rebs!!!

Good job Sentry. If you can beat that one on the first try (even with Pettigrew and Brock) then you shouldn't have any trouble with the other difficult scenario's.Just got game today, having great time. I resign from try to win this scenario in grognards mode; I tried all. The harder thing is that the AI refuse to obey to your orders in many cases: guns commanders don't move in advance their guns, regiments leaders in assault sometime stop diretly under the enemy gun fire. The iron brigade resist to three successive confederate assault of Pettigrew, after have made a long fire exchange with Archers. If I can suggest the scenario should must start much before with Archers still back: now he start and he lost immediatly regiments before my courirer can reach him.
