Remixing regiments

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

OK - I'm going to post it here, also!

So - Delete - your EMail Address above – Certain Sites will scan the forum looking for Email’s – that’s why we list them like….Davinci at Yahoo dot com.

Give me about thirty minutes!

OK, this is an in-complete Mod – that contains two-confederate uniforms.

http://rapidshare.com/files/419309453/G ... 2.rar.html

The TC2M \ Blanket

The TC2M \ Grey

Both are high \ low res .

It contains four csv files that are not complete, but contains all of the information that you need to add into your game.

The key to making this work is the unitglobal file that has the six uniforms for the regiments to use.

Most of the six uniforms have been changed to reflect this, so that the grey uniforms will show up more than the other color’s.

This is not tested – and the size of the units may have to be altered, but this is an easy edit using the gfx file – Columns G, and M .

Post Back – if this causes any problems!

It is a in-complete mod as stated above, where did you place the units folder ?
Hey, can you expand your SOW \ Mods Folder take a picture of it and post it here?

Basically, you would place the units folder into your Mods\Graphics folder.

Then you would have to add the information from the four csv files into a mod.

Dis-Regard that for now!

OK, Delete – the file that you downloaded yesterday, and try this one.

Be advised that this is still an untested half-hour-mod that is thrown together, so everything may not go as planned.

Place this folder - into your SOW \ Mods folder – and follow the normal steps of selecting it, but try it without any other mods.

Post-back the results – and we will go from there!

After all of this is said and done, you will know a lot more about modding, this is basically what modding is, crashing, starting over, and more crashing!

Great News!

Now, for step two!

What you should do would be to make another copy of that mod and experiment with it, without the fear of crashing your only copy!

Example
Image

1) Expand the Scourge of War-Gettysburg directory
2) Click the Mods folder – on the left side of the screen
3) Click the Grey Mod2 – that is on the right-side of the screen – it will turn Blue
4) Click the Edit button – next to File at the top
5) Choose the Copy to Folder – and select Desktop – Click Copy
6) Once you have the whole file on the Desktop – rename it to Grey Mod3 – ad then place the whole folder back into the SOW\Mods folder.

Now – you can experiment with adding different uniforms into the grey ones, without the fear of destroying the mod.

You can also experiment with adding to this small mod – and if anything goes wrong, just Delete the mod – make another copy – and start over.

Thanks to TC2M I should have you another grey uniform up very soon, I just need to convert it to the Lo-Res .

But, looking at some of the old pictures on the forum, Tim \ Bedbug – had a picture of the Flock Uniform wearing a brim hat, I wonder what happened to that, and why it wasn’t with the default game!
