Telescope / Binoculars

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

My screen is 1680 x 1050.
OK, I have no idea what size to make your graphic file, since I cannot test it, or assign it coordinates.

You , are probably going to have to download one of the free Graphic Editors such as…..PaintNet, or Gimp.

Basically, the Image file that you already have - need to be placed on a different background and this background has to be the size of your screen.

I assigned the binocular view to the Corps Commanders; the downside is that the toolbar has to be turned off (i.e…U-Key) in order to move them, unless I move them by courier.

These are the only units that can pan the view of the binoculars, everyone else only has a stationary view (i.e…non-moveable).

Ok, that should be easy enough.
Theese are the only units that can pan the view of the binoculars

Weird..
Well, I don’t think that you would want to have this assigned to all of the toolbars, only the units that you don’t frequently click on while playing.

This would be sort of awkward having this assigned to the Brigade, or Divisional commanders.

But, to each its own!

Maybe for sun tzu's like you who only play as army commander :silly: I on the othe rhand am happy doing the (relative) grunt work of Div and Brig generals.! Bring me my port and cigars orderly!

So let me see if i have this right - the moveable binocular view is only possible for the Army or Corps commanders? Is it always on?

All other generals can only call it up, and then have to close it down to move around?

I am the true definition of a micro-manager – no one moves unless I move them!

You can assign it to whatever unit you want to have that view, but I only have it assigned to the top leaders.

The view is constantly on unless you press the U-Key, I haven’t figured out another way around that problem as of now!

That is sort of pending……

Ah So, make it a part of the toolbar to enable panning, good idea D. How about using a signal officer, with his own toolbar.

For me, the zoom lays idle, for I rarely play HITS, where I see it would be useful. For HITS play, this would be a nice feature, but needs to be coded so it's realistic...this is your baby con20or, submit and convince. ;)

Does this remind anyone of the way the Large Courier Mod came to be? I love this process. :P

Submit and convince means no binoculars any time soon :(

Hoping Davinci can mod it means binoculars in the near future! :woohoo:

If this wont work, then I will definitely submit it - I may do so anyway.

I just installed the large courier message mod, its brilliant - possibly my favourite GFX enhancement so far! I do like my courier messages

Yes I was thinking the same thing, something like a New Cavalry Officer with only four individual units, sort of the same make-up of a brigade with four regiments.

This way you could assign them to follow which ever leader you wanted. I think that if they hade a count of (ten) that it would be only (one) scout per regiment.

But, I would say that you are correct, it will probably need another toolbar entry, and I don’t really have any knowledge in exactly what that requires per modding.

Yes , this really does need to be submitted and placed in the game the right way, which can only be done by Norb.

I probably spent several hours shaping those circles by hand, and my sister has informed me that there is a way of having Photoshop draw the circles….REALLY, now she tells me!

But, I still think that I can mod the gui.csv file to call up the screen, and then to shut-it-down, I just haven’t figured that out yet!
