This friday or Saturday game of 3vs3, or 4vs4.

Post by Michael Slaunwhite »

I am hoping to setup an MP game with 3vs3, or 4vs4 sometime this Friday, or Saturday coming. GCM is not required unless that is what all of us want to use.

Signup here, with the times that would suit everyone since there are so many time zones.

I for one am not interested in those folks who play to win at all costs, I have found that those folks usually ruin any fun in an MP game no matter the genre, so if enjoying a very friendly MP game is your cup of joe, then by all means join in.

Prepare to sit back, and play this game as it's meant to be played...no stress involved just have fun as it's meant to be.

You do not require to have X-Fire, or Teamspeak, or GCM to play, all you need is a registered copy of Scourge of War, with the latest patch installed, and have the temperament of a true gamer.

[Special Note]
Also, one more thing I forgot to mention, play the style of command that suits you. If you are more comfortable playing Brigade level, then go ahead, and pick a Brigade to command, and if you prefer commanding a Division, then go ahead choose that style of command...it's all about comfort, and having a relaxing MP game.

Thanks. As it looks for now there is no point in giving it a try yet because of the numbers wishing to sign up which is only us three, far cry for 3vs3 or 4vs4.

Oh just to let you know (I don't know if you are signed up on Xfire or not) I have created voice, and text channels in the chat area. You will see them if you choose the chat option in the X-Fire client.

I just can't understand why people are so hung up on using Teamspeak (I know the voice, but teamspeak is such an isolated tool, just like me). It's already ruined the Scourge of War Gettysburg built-in Game lobby, and is already seeing hair line cracks in it's MP ranks (usually happens when you play MP with other more dominate, control orientated users), and good portion of would be MP players have had nothing but bad experiences playing in groups online, which makes it even harder to get good people back to play SOW online.

I don't know it must only be me noticing this... Oh well live, and learn I guess.

For now I think this 3on3, and etc will be placed on hold...but it isn't Saturday yet so who knows.

:)

Please explain how TeamSpeak has ruined the in-game lobby? As most of the actual MP players see it, the lobby was broken to begin with. We also try to scoop up any people we see hanging out in the lobby and direct them to our teamspeak server. Getting set up for any MP game can be daunting to a newbie, and having voice comms helps greatly. The GCM website has everything a player would need to get started in MP under one roof... to include download links for TS, the mods we use, and written instructions on how to get setup. All of that is much better than what the in-game lobby "provides".

As to the "hair-line cracks" in the MP ranks.... could you elaborate on that? I would like to point out that the MP community is like any other gathering of people, and folks will have disagreements with each other, and at times it can get heated. 98% of the time, everyone plays well with others and gets along. Don't know why anyone would expect it to be Happy Fun Time with Lolipops and Rainbows in a group that's dedicated to a semi-competitive online war game. While it could be argued that certain personalities have chased off a handful of players, those players more than likely wouldnt have stuck around anyway, and said personalities have been told to reign in their attitudes anyway.

But, so as not to derail this thread completely, I could possibly be up for a game like this, as long as work doesn't have me on the road this weekend.

I fully agree that it has it's flaws, no doubt about it but having Teamspeak being the unofficial main jump off point has only made the in-game game lobby now mute, and ineffective thus hurting the MP community, and the game itself (having no one in the game lobby makes the game look bad, and incomplete).

To even suggest that Teamspeak has not hurt the MP community, and sales of the game is not true.

Haaa, lollipop, okay that is funny. Why not expect that? Scourge of War Gettysburg is only a game, and just that a game. Why let things get to the point where people walk away feeling that it's been a waste of time, and also walk away feeling like they just got blasted in public for doing something such as not using their troops properly, or why didn't you take the enemy guns, and etc. I mean I have personally have sat there in the Teamspeak server and heard this sort of garbage, and I won't even load Teamspeak now, and I won't visit it.
While it could be argued that certain personalities have chased off a handful of players, those players more than likely wouldnt have stuck around anyway, and said personalities have been told to reign in their attitudes anyway.
That much is true Only to a strict point), but allowing it to come to that point in the first place is what kills the MP experience. I know that there are some people who live in this world that would think that the MP community could not survive without them so they keep taking smaller steps toward totally disparaging the fail safes, and rules put in place such as speaking politely, and no berating of other MP members, or no swearing etc. Eventually that self deluded individual would break all of those rules, and start taking over where it just ends destroying the entire Mp community.

You mentioned above "hile it could be argued that certain personalities have chased off a handful of players, those players more than likely wouldnt have stuck around anyway" is actually that sort of attitude that kills off the Mp community which I am totally against.

It has always come down to who would you rather keep, the people who chase other decent people away (people who don't know how to play well with others), or keep the people who like playing for a few hours each week, and who know how to follow the basic rules which are treat everyone with respect, and do not berate others while in the game, or on Teamspeak.

The full reason for Mp is to give the individual the feeling of belonging to a larger group which values their presence, not what the MP community can get out of them.

The GCM, MP community has never been stronger. We had a 22 player game last week: http://www.sowmp.com/gcm/battles/battle/7686
