Please explain how TeamSpeak has ruined the in-game lobby? As most of the actual MP players see it, the lobby was broken to begin with.
I fully agree that it has it's flaws, no doubt about it but having Teamspeak being the unofficial main jump off point has only made the in-game game lobby now mute, and ineffective thus hurting the MP community, and the game itself (having no one in the game lobby makes the game look bad, and incomplete).
To even suggest that Teamspeak has not hurt the MP community, and sales of the game is not true.
As to the "hair-line cracks" in the MP ranks.... could you elaborate on that? I would like to point out that the MP community is like any other gathering of people, and folks will have disagreements with each other, and at times it can get heated. 98% of the time, everyone plays well with others and gets along. Don't know why anyone would expect it to be Happy Fun Time with Lolipops and Rainbows in a group that's dedicated to a semi-competitive online war game.
Haaa, lollipop, okay that is funny. Why not expect that? Scourge of War Gettysburg is only a game, and just that a game. Why let things get to the point where people walk away feeling that it's been a waste of time, and also walk away feeling like they just got blasted in public for doing something such as not using their troops properly, or why didn't you take the enemy guns, and etc. I mean I have personally have sat there in the Teamspeak server and heard this sort of garbage, and I won't even load Teamspeak now, and I won't visit it.
While it could be argued that certain personalities have chased off a handful of players, those players more than likely wouldnt have stuck around anyway, and said personalities have been told to reign in their attitudes anyway.
That much is true Only to a strict point), but allowing it to come to that point in the first place is what kills the MP experience. I know that there are some people who live in this world that would think that the MP community could not survive without them so they keep taking smaller steps toward totally disparaging the fail safes, and rules put in place such as speaking politely, and no berating of other MP members, or no swearing etc. Eventually that self deluded individual would break all of those rules, and start taking over where it just ends destroying the entire Mp community.
You mentioned above "hile it could be argued that certain personalities have chased off a handful of players, those players more than likely wouldnt have stuck around anyway" is actually that sort of attitude that kills off the Mp community which I am totally against.
It has always come down to who would you rather keep, the people who chase other decent people away (people who don't know how to play well with others), or keep the people who like playing for a few hours each week, and who know how to follow the basic rules which are treat everyone with respect, and do not berate others while in the game, or on Teamspeak.
The full reason for Mp is to give the individual the feeling of belonging to a larger group which values their presence, not what the MP community can get out of them.
