Chancellors Terrain

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Chancellors Terrain

Post by Jolly »

There is no doubt that the Chancellors terrain paints are top notch and right for the map - the nature of the map though makes it quite difficult to see much except trees.

As an alternative I thinned out the alphas on these to peer through things a touch easier, it has a nice distance look too.

As one who sometimes gets a little tired of "All Woods All the Time" (I wonder if Grant ever did, hmmm), I will be interested in trying this alternative.

Back on topic  , this could be a nice gameplay alternative. I'm assuming you modded this with the CV Extras North Map csv file. I suggest you make this mod available, if folks like it, maybe the other csv map files could be made available for you to mod to enhance CV gameplay...but, no promises since that's a retail version.

Nice work Jolly, as always :)

Thanks RB

It's nothing to do with the csv's, just a simple bit of alpha channel blending on the appropriate dds files which thins out the trees etc.

Works on all CV maps of course.

I'll work out a mod file.

Nice work. When the Chancellorsville woods get too much for me I simply lower the %age of trees slider. I find 30% to 25% works well, still giving you an obvious forest but allowing you to survive acute claustrophobia.

Jolly - Thanks for this. It works a treat, and I think you have struck a good balance.
