Hi Mike, I just hope no ACW commander suffered from a pronounced stutter !

Geoff Laver Late of Her Britannic Majesty's 57th Regiment of Foot
"Die hard, my men. Die hard the 57th."
Last words of Col Ingles commanding His Majesty's 57th Regiment of Foot at Albuhera 1811

Marshal Beresford wrote in his despatch "Our dead, particularly the 57th Regiment, were lying as they fought in the ranks, every wound in front"

I can see that being a problem, but it's an option for those who want to use it.

Cheers.

That's pretty cool, make sure that you have to have a southern drawl for the rebs :)
I'll see what I can do. :)

Here is where I am with the voice command software. Since I was using a shareware voice commands software to test drive this, I ran out of the 14 days try out time, and since I'm not going to spend some hard earned cash on it, I decided to start working the free version of "Killers Voice Command Software" which is very easy to use, and setup, and works rather well. If there are commands in which you wish to change, go ahead, it's all about making it comfortable for you. I am only making a template that will work, but it is all about you, and how you want to play.

Now to get it to work with those who have a speech impediment, or has a very calm Southern Drawl will not be a problem since this software works very well with the built-in speech recognition software (found in windows 7 by default, or download the speech recognition software for windows XP) which can be tuned to the way folks speak so what you are actually doing is teaching the system to learn the way you speak.

Here is a very small sample of commands I have entered (this will grow for not just infantry, but for Cavalry, and Arty as well). When I am done, everyone will be able to use this right out of the box so to speak.

Just an update here. I have been going through the GUI.csv line by line, and I have to say that there are so many commands I didn't even know existed that it will take a bit to go through them all, but once I am finished entering them into the voice software, I'll have to test each one by one to make sure they work, once that is done I'll be posting it here for you folks to download, and use.

This voice command profile is not to take the place of the toolbars created for the game, or take away from using the mouse. The full reason for having the ability to call out your orders is that it can be much faster just to speak the command than having to fumble around looking for the proper tile which really can give you an edge over your opponent, even more so in Multiplayer.

I'll keep you guys up to date on how this is going.

Cheers.

I used VAC for a flight simulator I used to play.

When you run out of time on your free trial, maybe you could move over to VoiceAttack?

It looks about the same as VAC, and has a 21 day free trial.

Or buy it for 8 dollars.

Update: Okay I just finished downloading the new Voice Command software posted by "rudy" which I am very thankful for, and I'll see what it has to offer, again Thanks Rudy.

Okay I have the majority of commands installed, downside is that if I happen to use the console, larger commands can take more time to be entered which means the command itself is not realized by the regiment, or by the commander until the entire line is typed, and executed which also means you cannot switch to another regiment until it is done... HOWEVER, the majority of these commands which I am working with can be given key assignments which is good because #1: One key inputs are faster, and #2: You can daisy chain them.

Now the commands which cannot be given keys are those which are Drills, and a couple of others, but since you may or may not be using them as much for voice, they can be omitted or still kept just in case you wish to use them.

Since speed is an essential component for using voice, I will have to assign all of these commands to keys (found in your keyboard.csv file), and that is going to take time.

Just thought this would be something you wanted to know.
