Yeah, that was my favorite part too.
I loved the scenen in the movie where, "Another joke! he's going to tell another Joke!" during the attack on the fort

I don't know all that much about lincoln, but from what I seen in the movie, was Lincoln actually that wise in real life?
Made me think of Solomon for a bit there.

My wife & I liked it a lot. But then we liked West Wing a lot too, and there were some similarities. Lincoln could have done with the services of Josh Lyman once or twice.
I was surprised that the movie covers just a period of months, because I had been expecting the whole war. I think this was an excellent call though, as it gave them the time to treat that period in some depth.
I also thought the treatment of Lincoln himself was spot on. At least it conformed to my prejudices. Greatness & humanity certainly. But he was also a politician who was determined to get things done, and did stoop to double-dealing at times.
