No problem, new eyes sometimes see things that were always there, but never noticed.

I have occasionally thought about what it would take to make a 'study mod' after the game is released. This would rescale everything to as close to historical accuracy as possible. This would not be playable, and would probably require a higher end system just to load. The purpose would be to help people who are students of the battle get a feel for the ground and how troops on the ground were possibly arranged.

I bet that would be very popular. Sounds like it could be a classroom tool. How much work would be involved in that? Maybe it could be included in a "Deluxe" version of the game. Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to drive over to Gettysburg whenever they want. I'm about and hour and a half away so I'm one of the lucky ones.

Here's a shot Little Powell asked I post regarding this same subject. It is a photo taken looking south along the Baltimore Pike from the area of the Wagon Hotel. The dark mass on the horizon is the Cemetery Gatehouse. The buiding nearest the camera was O.O. Howard's HQ and later became the orphanage. I asked my contact at Gettysburg about this scene. Here is my question and his response:

At the time of the battle, were there any buildings between the Evergreen cemetery gatehouse and the building used as Howard's HQ (the post war orphanage building I believe) on either side of the Baltimore pike?

Yes- a Victorian era two-story house with a wrap around porch. I believe it was a relatively new house, built about ten years before the battle. The house stood where the Hall of Presidents is today. There was nothing in the lot across the street except for a white-washed frame house just on the north side of the McClellan House, where Jennie Wade was killed. That house no longer exists but it stood where the Tour Center parking lot is today.

Fascinating stuff Jim, AJ. And thanks for the photo AJ. I really love the wartime photo's, I had no idea that many existed.

I think this game will be known for it's incredible attention to detail. I've never seen anything like it.
