ok...I got that download, and installed it...I now have an OOBs folder, which does seem to list the basic SOW OOBs that come with the game; all the .csv files...there are 3 total that ref Gettysburg Day 2...but, regardless of my editing any/all of them the changes I make do not show up in any Gettysburg Day 2 sandbox game I try and load/play?

can anyone point me directly to the exact file I can edit that will (for example) allow me to make a change to the standard GB Day 2 sandbox game? thanks...
My Sandbox Setups/OOBs/OOB_SB_Gettysburg_Day_2.csv

Build your mod like this, first name (mod name) is of your choosing. Edit the OOB from here and changes should be seen when this mod is selected.

Pretty sure this is the right setup, been a while.

hi reb...not sure what you mean by "Build your mod like this, first name (mod name) is of your choosing"? aren't the .csv files that are in my OOBs folder the ones that run when I play a solo sandbox game (let's say I select the Gettysburg map, and the OOB_SB_Gettysburg_Day_2.csv for my OOB)...I've gone in and edited that file, then selected that as my OOB to play a sandbox game...but any changes I made do not show up in my sandbox game?...

I tested it just by simply changing a general's middle name, for example...saved the .csv and launched the game, but the changes never reflect? if I do the same to any other custom scenario's .csv file the changes always work...so i'm a little confused...

To get any edited OOB to show in the list of OOBs you can choose in a sandbox battle you must set them up as a mod. The SDK files are just a resource for you to pick up and work with - the game won't recognise any changes you make in there, all changes must be set up as mods.

Create a folder in your mods folder called "Johns OOBs" or whatever else fits your requirements - the actual name is irrelevant as long as it doesn't contain any characters Windows objects to and isn't the same as another mod, obviously!

Inside this folder create a folder called "OOBs" (it has to be this name, game won't recognise it if its anything different).

Inside this folder put in a copy of the OOB you want to edit. When you've edited it (as you are doing, just try renaming a unit or general at first to check your changes are taking effect). Maybe edit the 20th Maine into the 30th Maine and save the OOB as OOB_SB_Gettysburg_Day2_30thMaine then go look it up on the battlefield.

All OOBs put into a mod folder that you want to use in sandbox mode MUST be named using this convention: "OOB_SB_myoobname.csv" If you leave off the "OOB_SB_" bit the game won't recognise it.

Also stick to the No.1 rule of modding

1) Never edit the original file. Copy it somewhere safe and edit the copy.

Good luck and welcome to the mystical world of modding!

OK, I think you need basic steps:
1) Open your Mods folder
2) Make a new folder, name of your choosing (mod name)
3) Open it
4) Make a new folder, name it OOBs
5) Open it
6) Copy the OOB of your choice into this OOBs folder
7) Edited OOB's from this mod will replace stock OOBs if they are named the same

Apologies if I talked down, it just sounded like from your discussion that you needed a basic mod build explanation. Hope this helps, it's all I got for this talk.

ok...it stated with this response (to my post):
"If I'm reading this right, probably not,... but I think that you need to download the SDK .

www.norbsoftdev.net/forum/modifications ... er-16-beta

If I wanted to view the contents of a Scenario - I would look at the files that are located in the Work \ SDK \ Scenarios folder.

davinci"

I downloaded this, and opened it...it did not add "Work \ SDK \ Scenarios folder"...but it did add a folder called "OOBs" in my SOW game folder (but nothing was added inside my "SOW/Work")...so, I now have a folder called "OOBs" which has all these .csv files in it (see below)...

OOB_Antietam.csv
OOB_Gettysburg_Day2.csv
OOB_SB_Gettysburg_Day_2.csv
OOB_SB_Brig_Div_Day_2.csv
etc, etc.

I made a small change to every .csv file in the OOBs folder that ref. Gettysburg day 2...and then went into the game and started a sandbox by selecting each of those 1 by 1, and my change did not show up in any of them...

that worked...since opening/installing the SDK file also added a new OOBs folder to my game (SOW/OOBs) I copied those 15-20 .csv files to my new SOW/MODS/MY Mods/OOBs and I can edit/use fine...just now when selecting from the sandbox intro screen I have 2 entries for almost all the OOBs (i'm guessing the game reads the 1st OOBs folder and then with my new MOD folder "on" it's reading those as well)...

Yes it does. To distinguish "your" OOBs just add your initials on the end or something else easily seen.
