Adding a map to the sandbox...?

Post by sweeteye »

Have been wondering if a map I make can be added to the sandbox and where to place the map files?
Or would I have to wait until the SDK is released?

Custom 3D maps are added as a mod. Once activated in your modifications settings, the map will then be available also in sandbox battles.

There are no custom maps out yet, but I'm sure they will arrive soon. Early tests indicate that it will be possible to port over maps from Gettysburg to Waterloo.

If you would like to make your own maps you can apply to be part of our map mod team.

Thanks for clarifying that for me.I made a few maps and scenarios for TC2M several years ago. With the SoW engines things are a bit different so I am basically starting out from scratch again.I did apply to be on the map modding team.....Right now I just want to put in what is basically a blank map... an open plain.Want to get my feet wet so to speak....learn a few basics.... Success.....I put in the Rio Espanol map by Crickey from SoW Gettysburg...Substituted in my own blank BMP. greyscale map and edited the map csv. file with only open terrain. It loaded up and works good.It looks like a huge desert.A very small step for me but I have learned something towards my goal. :woohoo:

Good Work, continue to experiment with it, you should have it down in no time at all.

I think that Crikey has already gotten a map to work with the new game.
