Wow! That's a great story. You should be proud that there is a relic on the battlefield that directly relates to your ancestry.I would suggest finding the david acheson rock carving he was a relative of mine killed on stony hill july 2 and he was buried temporarily under a rock behind the jacob weikert farm the rock is just on the edge of the forest. i went there may 8 to may 11 and i still didnt see it all a picture of the rock is my avatar lol.
I'm finally going to Gettysburg.

Aside from Little Round Top, Devil's Den, the Wheatfield etc. etc. no trip is complete without walking Pickett's (Longstreet's) charge. The ground can be very decieving until you actually walk it. I was there in May and will be back in July, can't wait. ~Gary

Re:I'm finally going to Gettysburg.
Well after going over the finances for the trip I'm just shy of being able to get there, so instead I'm going to Charlestown. Still a lot of Civil War stuff there and not as big of a killer on my leg.
Edit: What's karma on these forums (I know what the normal sense of it is.) because I have negative?

Absolutely. Especially when you see the Peach Orchard and you can definitely see why Sickles moved his line there. The Peach Orchard was the high ground overlooking the Confederate Line, and his original position was sort of down in a valley.DavidAcheson140PVI wrote:The big surprise walking the ground is when folks see that it is NOT flat. ~Git really is decieving it looks pretty small from the north carolina memorial but once you get going it gets out there!
