Wow! That's a great story. You should be proud that there is a relic on the battlefield that directly relates to your ancestry.

Aside from Little Round Top, Devil's Den, the Wheatfield etc. etc. no trip is complete without walking Pickett's (Longstreet's) charge. The ground can be very decieving until you actually walk it. I was there in May and will be back in July, can't wait. ~Gary

it really is decieving it looks pretty small from the north carolina memorial but once you get going it gets out there!

Well after going over the finances for the trip I'm just shy of being able to get there, so instead I'm going to Charlestown. Still a lot of Civil War stuff there and not as big of a killer on my leg. :laugh:

Edit: What's karma on these forums (I know what the normal sense of it is.) because I have negative?

Absolutely. Especially when you see the Peach Orchard and you can definitely see why Sickles moved his line there. The Peach Orchard was the high ground overlooking the Confederate Line, and his original position was sort of down in a valley.
